I think its completely fucked up that icbc can just nab your car and take all your parts and pay you shit all for them,

isnt it YOUR CAR? seems like every car on the road belongs to icbc, eventhough you paid for it.

Read dumbass, I barely know the guy. I only know that he got the car (saw pics and asked where it was from), I had no knowledge of the OP's issues with trying to get the car back. My bad for trying to be helpful on RevScene...

I understand that he won it fair and square, but jewing someone in the process just isn't right.

Don't complain to me, I only know the guy from buying parts from him. If you have a problem with him, or how he runs his business take it up with him cause I have nothing to do with it.

Can you PM me the pics?

i understand your side of this but to be honest, it doesn't take much more than common sense to realize OP is trying to recover his stolen vehicle in a thread about his vehicle being stolen. makes sense, yes?

his car was stolen, it was recovered, then sold (by ICBC I presume). He already knows where it is and who has it.

You can accept icbc's terms/payment and not be a sneaky bitch trying to buy the car back under a "buddy" OR you can not accept icbc payment and keep the car as it was found.
ICBC does not own your car. Really simple.

cho 09-25-2011 08:50 PM

sorry im not totally clear on this,

but if you get your car stolen, theres pretty much nothing you can do asides from pouring money to get it back/keep it?

satek 09-25-2011 09:02 PM

From what I heard. You must not sign anything until ICBC gives you what you ask for.

I know he does, I'm not sure what for. Maybe if he PM'd me telling me what he wants it for I might help him out, but considering his previous attitude and the fact that Josh has helped me out in the past...

1990TSI 09-25-2011 09:41 PM

If you want to get a hold of him here's a craigslist ad I found

R32 Skyline GTSt Sedan

quick search makes me think it be the same guy

There's a saying in Chinese which I believe is appropriate for this situation. 好心做壞事 (hao xin zuo huai shi), which can be loosely translated as having a good intention to do a bad thing. I understand that you were merely trying to help at first, but advertising parts off what was my own car is like getting kicking someone when they're already down.

I was forced to accept what ICBC thought was appropriate compensation for my losses because the car was going to be sent off to salvage that same day. I made the mistake of signing the CL-96 salvage release form which essentially surrendered my rights of ownership of the vehicle to ICBC because I hadn't looked over the fine print. This mistake is what cost me and in an effort to mend my wounds I had no other option than to attempt to win the car back at the salvage auction. Once I signed my car away, than ICBC took ownership of my car. Really simple.

Depends on the situation. If it's a write off, don't sign anything until the price has been negotiated. I consider myself lucky that they gave me an extra $1500 after their initial offer, seeing as I had already signed it away.

Sentimental value.

Don't think that's his, but I do know he has a gunmetal BNR32 for sale. The steed you posted is worthy of shredding tires though :fullofwin:

Dude, you weren't aware of the background the car now has and that's cool, but regardless of the situation it would have been common sense not to post that. Now, you have a chance to redeem yourself and help Jing out and instead you bring JoshB back into the equation.

Way to kick a guy when he's down.

My thinking was as follows:

I know his car was recovered.
I know it got sold as I saw the post purchase pics
Since it was sold, he must have taken ICBC's offer
Since it was sold, he may not know where it went
He or his friends may still want something from the car, despite having taken ICBC's offer for whatever reason
I'll let him know that I know where it is, in case of the above statement.

I apologize that my post came across the wrong way, but there is no way I could have possibly known things about the car that were not posted here. Why should I care about redeeming myself to someone whose first reaction was to bitch at me for things I had no knowledge of?
