New speed limit - Westminster Hwy

Maybe not the best area to post but everyone should know that Westminster Hwy has a speed limit of 50km/h now between #6 road and nelson (where the new overpass was built)

there is also posted signs for no vehicles above 10,000 kgs or lbs I don't remember which weight haha

why you should care because:

1) the police sit there on 7 road ticketing people left right and center ($196 tickets)
2) I am sick of people tailgating me now when I go 60 - 65....I am already speeding at this so back the hell up!
3) if you drive a commercial truck you will also get a ticket unless you have business there

I hope this helps people and does not turn out the same for all the people I have seen pulled over in the past week

donjalapeno 09-09-2011 10:55 PM

Highway =/= Freeway

A highway usually refers to a route that is capable of heavy traffic.

q0192837465 09-10-2011 12:20 AM

Wow, the roads are so wide open there. I also get tailgated like mad when cuz I drive 60.

TypeRNammer 09-10-2011 12:44 AM

I hate that stretch of westminister.

Like a few of RS members mentioned already, even when you drive at about 60-70kmh which is really pushing it for speeding, people still tail gate you like crazy. :fulloffuck:

cool story bro?

Nssan 09-10-2011 03:30 AM

westminster hwy past no.6 is a two lane road...

the speed limit is bogus. but not allowing heavy trucks is right..

ZordosZZ 09-10-2011 06:25 AM

i think the 91 on ramp(westbound) and 91 off ramp(eastbound) better then cutting across westminster hwy unless the 91 happens to be backed up. it's been good so far for me getting into dt rmd for lunch haha(work on nelson rd)

hk20000 09-10-2011 10:14 AM

yeah the nelson overpass is the reason they want to calm the traffic along Westminster Hwy near the Mosque.

In theory yes....but in BC they also throw in traffic lights as well to add to the confusion / congestion / frustration etc etc etc.

CP.AR 09-10-2011 11:27 AM

^ I remember how the 91 used to have a traffic light where it meets the Hamilton residential area. even though I was maybe 10 or so at the time, I knew shit was wrong

:fuckthatshit:

its called not being a sheep
and 90km was reached with a tap of the pedal.... pretty sure it would take the corolla 15 seconds to reach those speeds, so it just seems more "badass" for you.

I'm not slowing down for some native drug addicts, you are free to do that SIR.

donjalapeno 09-10-2011 01:54 PM

its called playing the part of a badass and then getting pulled over and then getting your fancy little tap pedal car taken away because you and your shallow mind thought that the life of some troubled people is worthless.

its not called being a sheep, its called being a responsible and safe driver.
