Depends on the emergency.
Guns with high caps
lots of ammo for said guns
canned food
1 set of clothes for each type of weather (i.e. snow = jacket gloves etc)
huge backpack for it all.

1 - Water
2 - Iodine
3 - Lighter
4 - My best outdoor cloths
5 - Bow and arrow
Thats if I had no time to prepare and I had to leave ASAP to the bush
I think the real question for most people is where would you go? I know exactly where I would take refuge in a major disaster. Not that I planned it but when I was there I made a mental note.

My bad for using the outdated description (even though Delta, BC still calls them that).
Disaster Response Route.
Looks like this link may help explain........... Disaster Response Routes
Obviously, this system is not going to work unless the general public is made aware. Quote:
Public awareness and cooperation is necessary to keep these Disaster Response Routes clear following an earthquake or other disaster, in the interest of saving lives and protecting property.
There are signs along roadways in certain parts of BC (Lower Mainland and Greater Victoria), which indicate DRR designation. Many people believe these signs identify an evacuation route. NOT TRUE. Disaster Response Routes are required for the movement of responders and resources for emergency or disaster response. The designation of Disaster Response Routes means other roadways can be utilized for non-emergency traffic, commuting, or the unlikely event of an organized evacuation. Disaster Response Routes are NOT evacuation routes. They will be activated as needed during an event and it is recommended that everyone listen to the radio and television for public service announcements regarding emergency routes and their uses.

Had a Emergency evacuation session with a firefighter. He said if a severe disaster happen in lower mainland, you will see police, firetrucks and ambulance going around the cities and report what they found to the government. Then the government will put all the info and make a plan and act accordingly.
They are told not to rescue anyone even you are injured. That comes at later, their first task is to do the survey around cities. Therefore, you gotta be prepared to survive for the first few days which is not easy Posted via RS Mobile |

I'm not sure if I miss anyone post but no one mention flashlight?? It's gonna be helpful, and wear safety shoe that doesnt conduct electricity could be helpful too. You will see power line on the ground and could still be live.

I'm gathering up all the food and water I can at my place, flashlights/batteries and knives, taking my car and driving to my brothers' place. There we'll hole up with guns and ammo, food and water, and make our last stand against the zombie invasion.

I'm surprised how very few people actually have an actual emergency kit prepared.
My little emergency kit has a
water purifier+6pack of bottle water(you can buy from any outdoor store, one is usually good for a few hundred gallons, it basically purify any water to micron levels)
a few cans/packs of tuna&cereal bars&chocolates (about enough to last a 5-7 days for 2 in any given weather. Always pack some sort of sugar items)
A weather-resistant blanket
A crank-powered radio
Letherman multitool with a fire starter wrapped
A few big ass plastic bag
Certified copies of my IDs
LED flashlight
All in a waterproof small carry bag.
I think it cost me like 150 bucks to put it together? (thanks to free lawyer friend to certify copies for me) and it's THE bag I would first grab in any emergency event.

It's pretty logical to try to assess the situation before putting things in action... Take care of yourself if you don't want a hand from the gov. You're not being prevented from doing so.
