honestly dude its not.
people line up for hours at stephos, and those are locals too.

I know several places in vancouver that have 30 minute lineups for good decent food.

A HOT DOG place in the middle of the suburbs, and is being featured on all these national TV shows and magazines, and yup, everyone there lives down the street.

i can name 5 places in richmond that have long waits.

And I don't know why everyone is getting all offended. There's nothing wrong with being a tourist in a lineup full of tourists to go to a popular local restaurant. I'm sure there are a few locals who like that place and are pissed off at all the tourists in line, but it's nothing to be upset about.

That is my POINT. in RICHMOND with a large population, particularly the type of people who follow hype and trends more than anything else. You can't compare that with a HOT DOG PLACE in the middle of the suburbs of chicago :lol

My intention is not to offend or condescend. I just wonder why, under these circumstances, one would assume that a huge lineup at a hot dog place that is featured on TV and travel magazines and blogs, is not comprised mostly of tourists. Then to say that it would otherwise be "infested" with tourists when you are a tourist. As if your favorite local spot has been "infested" and you now have to deal with those pesky tourists.

Again, no offense. I just don't get where you're coming from in this situation. It could be 99% locals, but I wouldn't assume so. And if it was all tourists, I wouldn't put them down for it. Especially when I'm one of them...

I've waiting at Antons for 1 1/2 hrs before. I love the Gnocchi they have there and with the portion size and its something to do. If you go to any restaurant these days at dinner or something there is always a 40min line ups I dont see the big deal about it at all.

I don't mind waiting at specialty restaurants that dont take reservations. But anything over 30 min is too much.
I would always make reservations if they allow.

^ Agreed. Something beyond 30min mark really pisses me off.

Again, I'm not sure why people keep comparing popular local restaurants in Vancouver and Richmond, to a hyped hot dog shop in a suburb of Chicago... But anyway, let's agree to disagree on this one. I just don't get where you're coming from, and I don't get why you think it's a bad thing for a place to be popular with tourists, especially when you're one of them. I'll just leave it at that :)

On topic of places that have been featured on tv, and have long lineups, next time you guys are in Seattle try a place called Paseo's.

I haven't had many in my life, but these guys make AWESOME pulled pork sandwhiches. I think one of those tv shows named it the second best sandwhich shop in the USA. Long lineup, but well worth it.

And just to stir the pot, alot of people seemed like locals :troll:

I can imagine the look on SkinnyPupp's face looking like the guy in Murdoc's avatar whenever he posts/reads RS. It's like he has a natural hostility towards everything.
