Why China Will Never Rule the World

Hehe 09-11-2011 06:09 AM

I think China would never rule because how the government is formed.

To become a great nation, the government has to be able to accept criticism. Western societies criticize their government all the time. In Canada/US, we are fairly new to this still. In Europe, whenever the people don't agree with their government, they go on street.

I'm not suggesting that rioting is a must/good thing for developed country. But without criticism, a country never become better. And you don't get to be the best without being better and better all the time.

StylinRed 09-11-2011 06:20 AM

striderblade 09-11-2011 07:02 AM

China already exerts tremendous influence in the world....

Chinese economy is quite dependant on western world as its based on manufacturing .

chinese population is getting old and in another 10-15 years ..they will start to retire and would slow down the chinese economy alot.

Many great Western Civilizations were totalitarian societies with no room for criticism by its own citizens whatsoever. It is impossible to isolate any factor of China's unlikeliness to "rule the world" (whatever that means). Sure, we've been taught that constructive criticism is healthy for growth, but it would seem that history has taught us raw power and well-coordinated coercion of your own people works just as well.

Also, from the so-called "vantage" point of residents in Vancouver, it is, in my opinion, quite difficult to come up with a remotely objective opinion on the current status of China. This is not to mention that most people who live in Vancouver (and are making these observations) have never been to China; nor have any type of travelling experiences in which they were actively trying to compare aspects of the Chinese culture to that of Vancouver or of China.

chinas central banks are the largest and state owned

tonyzoomzoom 09-11-2011 02:15 PM

Unlike the ambitious US, why would one assume that China wants to rule the world?

Are you listening to yourself? Or have you never seen one of those exotic and fascinating creatures we call the Chinese?

Bonjour 09-11-2011 04:00 PM

I think China is way more ambitious than America.. maybe they may not want the entire world but at least power and influence in Asia.
But it will be hard for them to rule because they are seen more as a threat and not as peaceful as they say because of lack of transparency and military buildups. Its neighbors will only band together against China. And US will help them

From my understanding countries listed on the IMF are run by global central banks. Please educate me if this doesn't apply to china somehow.

guess u dont read much news from southeast-south-asia pacific about how much agressive the chinese military has been recently.

tonyzoomzoom 09-11-2011 05:27 PM

and how aggressive the US military has been for the last 10 years?

asian_XL 09-11-2011 05:41 PM

lol i didnt know u were trying to compare the two.....

US has been aggressive ever since (not just 10 years)... if i read correctly we were discussing CHINA's assertiveness.

PiuYi 09-11-2011 06:40 PM

:fulloffuck: WTF is this guy trollin??

he's not even discussing why China will never rule the world... he's just complaining about how he found China boring, how the average Chinese makes far less than their Western counterparts (no shit), Chinese infrastructure, etc, is inferior to Western countries.... it's like a book written from a guy who waltzed into China expecting it to be just like any developed Western country

i'm too lazy to dig up all the articles, but everything I've read indicates China will overtake the US as the world's largest economy in a decade or less, if economic size is the measure of power in today's world, I see no reason why China won't be "ruling the world" in the future (or at least share that honour with the US)
