One of the things I took away from this movie is that death is not just about what the person who died wants. There is a grieving process for family and loved ones, the funeral is just as much about the dead guy as it is for the remaining family and friends who need a healthy way to grieve. Everything in Western culture is about me, me, and me ... what I want. In other cultures, the most important pronoun is us and the relationship between me and you.

There is one line that I remember:

Ubuntu African saying - I am what I am because of who we all are.

Costco started to sell caskets too and it did really well. I once used to laugh....

HECK, Rolex watches, Dom Perignon, 10-karat diamonds. Even Porsche dealer in Seattle put their cars on the floor of a Costco, and they sold out in a week.

People laughed at the dealership and then...look who's laughing now.

Wait, which plot is your wife going to share, your moms or dads?

My recommendation is that your mom should share your dads plot, and when you make your dads headstone, leave a space for your mom on it, that way they can just add her name to the headstone. As far as I know, you're only allowed one headstone on each burial plot.

And you and your wife can take the other plot and use it for yourself.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/briti...ases-1.7507285

Quote:
TransLink and the B.C. government have announced a combination of tax increases, fare increases and new funding that will end the systemic deficit that has plagued Metro Vancouver's transit authority since the pandemic — at least for the next three years.

News releases issued by the government and TransLink outlined the details, which will have to be approved by the Mayors' Council and TransLink board on April 30.

The agreement includes:

A 0.5 per cent property tax increase across Metro Vancouver, adding approximately $20 to the median household;
A 5 cent increase in transit fares beginning in July 2026;
A $1.50 increase in the YVR AddFare for trips from Vancouver International Airport beginning in July 2026;
An increase in off-street parking taxes from 24 per cent to 29 per cent;
$312 million in operating income from the provincial government over the next three years.

According to TransLink, the deal will keep them fiscally sustainable until the end of 2027. It will also allow them to increase service on up to 50 bus routes, add 40 new or additional routes, and extend the North Short RapidBus to Metrotown by 2027.
I can't believe that all the hand wringing over maintaining transit services only comes out to this tiny amount of money per household. What would it take so we can increase transit service by 20% so we can get more cars off the road? Like $100 per household? Let's do that!

How much money was wasted in simply discussing that increase? A million dollars?

Just fucking increase it jfc… like this has been at least a year about this funding shortfall, how many meetings and committees had to be in place to come to that conclusion.

Typical bureaucracy bullshit. That’s why everything we do is behind red tape.

We needed a new port to alleviate congestion 15 years ago. Still arguing over some fucking sea bird / native land bullshit.

Kill the bird, fuck the natives, and stop pussyfooting around. That’s over 3000+ jobs and economic trickle effect is huge from a new port !!! Just look at what one port did to prince rupert.

What a waste those are 2 wetsound amps. They are worth over 2k new. But these models are designed for Malibu boats. They use custom conectors and use custom software to program the dsp in the amps. The conectors are hard to get and you can't get the software to program the amps. So unless you own a malibu boat that has the speakers but no amps these are useless. That's why they are selling for $100.

Anyone vaguely decent with a soldering iron can get rid of those connectors and change them to anything you want pretty easily.

You can look up the entire 25% list here. Japanese cars won't be on there, since they're made in Japan and not America. American cars aren't on there either as far as I can see, so you're double safe
