Been craving marinated tofu for a while but can't find a recipe.. I believe it was extra firm tofu marinated in soy sauce white wine vinegar ginger garlic and green onions. Marinated over night and eaten as is. Anyone know a proper recipe?Posted via RS Mobile

	   | Largest Sockeye Salmon run in recorded history expected this year on the Fraser River ? Vancouver Is Awesome
Early indicators suggest that the salmon return on the Fraser River could be the biggest in recorded history.
More than 72 million sockeye could be in this year’s run, which is more than double the previous record four years ago. In 2010, 30 million fish flooded through the river, and the sockeye this year are the spawn of those salmon.
Ocean conditions have also been good for the past three years.
It is being called the fishing of a lifetime, and many in the industry say they are excited to get on the water this summer. http://globalnews.ca/news/1192312/th...orded-history/ | | | | | 03-12-2014, 08:11 PM | #5929 | | Fathered more RS members than anybody else. ^every four years, the Adams River run. Combined with a few others, it should be good. However, DFO have been wrong before (way off a few years). I'm emptying out the freezer for it. Remember to freeze the fish whole, as it keeps fresher and longer this way. Do not cut the fish or gut it.

Forgot to mention, if you have little kids, take them to the Adams River during the big run. I believe it starts late September and goes into late October. It's an awesome experience to see a river turn red. Death and life together as one. Two sockeye together to spawn. They do their thing and then die soon after, becoming food for the avelin/fry when they hatch and find their way out to sea to start the cycle again. This act has fascinated people for thousands of years.
The place turns into a bit of a circus with people selling souvenirs and stuff, but it's something you have to witness at least once in your life. Plus, you can visit Lomac. I think he lives somewhere near there. Adams River Salmon Society, Shuswap, BC, Salmon Run, Salute to the Sockeye | The salmon of the North Shuswap

^it is this year. Nature or should I say sockeye salmon always do the 4 year cycle. No deciding to wait one year or come back one year early. It's like Vulcan Pon Farr. Other species of salmon have different cycles. Pinks or humpback salmon do a two year cycle, while others are one to three. Farmed salmon, yuk, are another story. They are the GMO of salmon. In fact they are not even indigenous to the West Coast.

Just be careful and follow the instructions properly to avoid botulism. Bernardin Home Canning: Because You Can
Google "Home canning salmon." or something like that.
There's nothing like canning your own salmon - so fresh and the taste is second to none. You will be so popular with family and friends.
There's nothing like canned salmon with soy sauce on warm rice. Well, salmon eggs (Ikura) come close (Chum roe, to be exact). Chum or Keta is one of the most disqusting fish to can and are one of the cheapest species of salmon to buy, but their roe is prized in countries like Japan.
Also, canned salmon takes a while to mature. You can eat it right away, but it improves with age. Shelf life is 3 to 5 years. After that, the taste deteriorates.

	   | Foreign duty-dodger wants visa renewed | Vancouver 24 hrs Quote: | A “very wealthy” Chinese national who only claimed $710 in purchases but brought back $57,000 in luxury goods from Hermes in Las Vegas has been convicted and fined following a Crown appeal.
Xiaochen Zhao, a University of Victoria student here on visa, had her charges stayed earlier on condition of community service after a judge heard she’d likely be “inadmissible” in Canada with a conviction.

In a Wednesday decision, however, the B.C. Court of Appeal disagreed. It said immigration issues “must not divert the judge” from an appropriate sentence.

The court found the frequent traveller — a 24-year-old economics student and daughter of a wealthy Beijing businessman — had twice brought back undeclared goods in the space of a month in November 2011.

Ridiculous that the Judge didn't want to "inconvenience" this person so he basically ignored the law... sometimes I think we are too tolerant. "Inadmissible" ? So what? Do they think she will suddenly become a completely law-abiding citizen once she becomes a Canadian citizen? Likely no, because she now knows that our gov't will let things slide for convenience. | My guess is that she's going to try and sell most of it back home in China. Though given she's the daughter of a prominent businessman in Beijing, she's likely treating herself as well.
