I have some questions re: manual transmissions since I'm just learning since 2 weeks ago.

1) When in first gear and I am about to let go of the clutch, the RPMs dip from ~1,500 down to ~1,000 which results in a slight jolt as I get into gear. Does this happen to anyone else or is this something that can be solved with practice?

Or could this be due to intake valve gunk from the GDI engine?

2) When creeping in a busy (Costco) parking lot or in downtown traffic, is riding the clutch pedal for what seems like a very long time going at like 3-5km/h normal? Is there another way?

1) have you tried releasing the clutch slower? Sounds like you might be dropping it if it jolts. Keeping the rpms closer to 1500 might stop it from happening too.

2) stay in 1st and just push the clutch back in until you need to move again.

Can anyone recommend an honest shop within about a half hour of New West? A family member has a shop telling them the rear brake shoes are at 1% but that the ebrake is fine (even though the ebrake would use those same brake shoes).

I need to get an extra fob for my condo garage. Can I just get a programmable garage door opener, and clone my current fob? Would something like this work?:

The ICBC 5k max pay out now.

Someone I know is thinking they'll get some great pay out on top of the max 5k from not being able to go to work for a month. So out of curiosity is loss of time at work included in that or is that something completely separate?

Either way I think he's an idiot but I'd like to get ready to laugh at him if I can.

Advance Automotive in richmond should be within a 1/2 hour. the guy's name is John. I've used him for over 10 years, and he has always been very honest

Remember Vancouver's old mayor? He still makes the news apparently.

One of the comments on this article

As a member of Jericho Tennis club it has been common knowledge for months that they were caught having sex in the highly visible public hot tub in August when he was still Mayor. Global news came looking for sources, which they got, but never posted the story. It is an absolute embarrassment that while Gregor was still Mayor he used his position to proclaim his girlfriend’s birthday as “Shahrzad Rafati Day” and, judging by her social media photos, gave her the document while on vacation
Also, I didn't realize he declared a day for her.

Stick it on your calendars. It'll be here in just under 6 months!

Whats the going rate for a scrap car these days?

I have a early 2000s accord, with the slipping transmission I think I'm ready to let die. Damn shame to, I bought a eliminator ultra battery last fall, so that's sunk cost.

Or I could do the scrap it program and but the options are limited. Where's the translink passes?

I am looking for recommendation for a mover.

Moving the contents of my 1 bedroom Vancouver Condo, to South Surrey.

Looking for an honest company, no hidden fees.

Any suggestions?

Need a recommendation for a tow company who I can trust with an exotic in case of a break down. Who do you guys trust? Flat bed obviously.

Main area I am in would be White Rock -> to Vancouver. Never know when my italian POS might light on fire or break down randomly.

Hondaracer 03-16-2019 02:38 PM

Recommendations on where to go to fix or replace a jacket zipper? My zipper came apart on my North Face shell and I need to likely replace it prior to the rainy season starting up.

There's an alterations store across from Mec on Broadway that fixes zippers, Im told Mec sends customers over there to get zippers fixed too

Ah it's Leslie's luggage and shoe repair

Liquid_o2 03-19-2019 04:02 PM

Perfect, thank you! Not far from me either.

I actually was able to program my car's garage door opener button to work with my condo door opener. I'm not sure if I was allowed to to do this, I didn't think it was even possible, but it worked. I don't make it obvious though when using the button just in case haha.

Free music app for listening to music offline or airplane mode.
Anyone have any recommendations?
The app I was using was not updated by developer and I lost all my music due to copyright issues.
It was a good app when it worked b/c I could listen to music in airplane mode while on vacation.

If its in Vancouver, any ol' battery will do. Costco is always solid with a high CCA. And prob 100 for a Civic

It's super easy to change and you just need a size 10 wrench typically.
