Based on that, yeah, I think the way to go is to get a receiver to connect the speakers to and to connect your turntable into it. I don't think you need to go balls-out on a receiver given these are ceiling-mounted speakers, and you don't know what they are.
Your use case is simple enough where you can get a basic Sonos setup and it will more than satisfy your requirements with lots of room to grow.
The vinyl community has grown tremendously over the years which also meant new products to get into the hobby. You have lots of options and varieties to choose from.
Edit: If you decide you want help repairing the Technics receiver, try "The Turntable Shop" in North Van. The original owner passed away but the current manager, Connor, learned a great deal from him and is familiar with vintage HiFi repair. I knew the original owner as he helped me repair an old Technics turntable and vintage Marantz receiver way back in the day.

I have a pro-ject turntable. Currently I have it just running through a single Marshall speaker with a little mini amp. I’d be cutting out the speaker and mini amp and wiring directly to the receiver and wiring the speakers to the receiver.
My buddy gave me a vintage technics receiver, but it doesn’t seem to be functioning. Might just be a fuse or might be something beyond that, that needs repair. I haven’t spent the time yet to get it working, but think maybe getting something newer that I can at least play digital music as well might make more sense since my collection is so small.
I should mention I have no interest in hooking it up to the TV for movies or anything, since we never really watch anything other than bluey, which for the record is actually awesome, but doesn’t require HI-FI to enjoy lol. | Hey Westopher, you can get a multi zone receiver to manage the speakers so that you can decide whether to play them in 1 room, 2 room, all rooms etc. A lot of the newer ones will also come with Bluetooth/Airplay/Chromecast capability so you can send Spotify/Amazon Music etc. to them for use.
If you want to talk more offline (probably easier to get details regarding zones/power/features etc.) you can DM me or get my number from Culverin/GMS.

Speakers are in multiple rooms, so I’d need something that allows for the ability to pick speakers to play. All the wiring terminates in the same place though. That said I only really care if the living room and kitchen are set up cause I’m not gonna play records upstairs and go sit in my room downstairs

That’s really the best case scenario I’m sure if you spent like $700-$1000 you could get an amazing backbone receiver that can manage zones etc. probably AirPlay or whatever built In as well. *Edit a quick search if you’ve got like 10+ speakers it’s actually probably gonna be fairly pricey to be able to use them all with 1 amplifier
This stupid shit just adds up and up like you gotta pay for a higher level subscription to get Dolby Atmos on streaming services? :/ lol so fucking stupid like I have Prime, Crave, Disney+ and now I need to pay the next level up to get the higher quality audio for the system I buy..

It allows a 2 channel amp to run 8 speakers 4 zones. Then you can get an amp like this: https://www.amazon.ca/Fosi-Audio-BT2...s%2C247&sr=8-6
Depending on the turntable you will need a pre amp like this to connect to the amp: https://www.amazon.ca/Fosi-Audio-Pho...%2C289&sr=8-18

My sister and my mom and dad and my niece and nephew are all supposed to go to Ireland today on AC… planning for years kids being old enough and parents healthy enough… sister fighting with ex about days she’s allowed to take the kids it’s been such a stressful thing for her to organize and now they don’t know if they’re going or not.
Still have a boarding pass and supposed to leave at 3pm but apparently even for scheduled flights a lot of FA’s are calling in sick to ground the planes. Such a bunch of bullshit.

I struggle a lot with unions.
On one hand, I see the value. Unions are there to ensure that jobs are protected and workers aren't trampled on by rich employers. That's important. Without unions, it's a race to the bottom.
But unions are also their own worst enemy. I find they can be so stubborn, unwilling to acknowlege reality, and also the cause of their own problems.
It's easy for someone to agree with the premise that FAs should be paid for time spent on the ground working.
Having a junior FA making $25k a year or something like that is absurd.
But what they don't tell you is the existing wages are inflated in order to already compensate for time on the ground. So they ARE being paid for ground time. That said, are they due for a raise? Yeah probably.
I think the reason junior FAs are paid terribly is because union seniority allows all the senior FAs to pick the best routes, like premium long haul flights that maximize time in the air during a shift, while the juniors work 11 hour days doing 6 segments and thus spend half the time on the ground. Isn't that pay inequality between senior and junior FAs the unions's fault?
Sucks for passengers who get screwed at the end of the day.

At this point, if they continue to refuse to accept the reality that Canada Post's current business model is completely unsustainable, the whole corporation is just gonna collaspe.
In fact, at this point, I think it is far better for the federal gov to just let Canada Post collaspe and file for bankrupty, with no further gov funding injections. Then once CP goes into receivership, the federal gov can form a new dept / crown corp to buy up CP's assets at bankruptcy price and start all over again -- except this time, the CBA will actually reflect the realities of a viable business model in today's mail and parcel delivery sector.

I always think about what if my dad/uncle/aunt whomever was a postal worker. Obviously you dont' want to see people lose their jobs who are older and will be impacted more negatively than others who can easily retrain.
But then again, 5 day a week door-to-door delivery is totally unnecessary right now. And if my dad had to work Saturdays in order to keep his job, i'm pretty sure he'd have no problem with that.
Also if my dad had to work for a full 8 hours and lose the perk finishing early and heading home but still being paid a full shift, I'm sure he'd be ok with that too. Yeah it sucks, but we all have to adapt.

Westopher, give Sunny Electronic a call or visit them. They're across from John Oliver Secondary on Fraser Street. Good deals and friendly staff. Slow, but that's the way they are. Very laid back.

things for sure can be adjusted based on how the model is, but trying to start from scratch will be HILARIOUSLY ineffective. Can you imagine how many hundreds of millions will be spent on the logistics of creating something? The government doesn’t have a good track record of making new things lately. They’d just contract some fucking consultants to do it for 4000x what it should cost.
