haha ic, did your schedule just end up cluttering that way? Or you just doing fewer courses?

Back to back rape next week.

Midterms on monday-tuesday-wednesday. :okay:

Spectre_Cdn 11-05-2012 12:16 AM

:rukidding:

Remembrance Day is on Sunday, November 11. UBC will be closed on Monday, November 12.

At least I think that is what RCubed is referring to.

Has anyone here applied for a Letter of Permission to take a course at another institution before?

I'm a third year commerce student and want to take a COMM course at Langara to transfer back to UBC.. Any words of advice?

Thanks!

Spectre_Cdn 11-05-2012 12:32 AM

I filled one out for taking a Physics course at Langara. There wasn't much to it. I went to the Science Advising office, got a form, filled it out and gave it back to them. My reason for it was because UBC wasn't offering the equivalent course during that summer.

Zoidberg 11-05-2012 01:00 AM

Was it a hassle? I'm planning to take a course at Langara just because it would make the rest of my timetable so much better. Less commuting, breaks, better availability for work, etc. I'm worried they're going to be really strict of why I want to do it.

Spectre_Cdn 11-05-2012 01:14 AM

From what I remember, it wasn't much of a hassle. I just filled out an application form, and talked with the people at the front desk of the advising office. Then I think I got an email about the letter of permission later on (I can't remember exactly because this was years ago). It was a smooth process for me, but this was during the summer and I wasn't taking any courses at UBC.

It would be best to check with the Commerce Advising office. I think it's just a paperwork thing :)

This term feels like its going by way too quickly. First final in 34 days. Done finals in 44. :accepted:

Zoidberg 11-05-2012 01:58 AM

Thanks Spectre_Cdn :)

Anyone else have any advice or some "reasons" that would work? :D

Is this the physics 100 equivalent that you did? The algebra-based one?

Because i remember wanting to do physics 100 during summer and it wasnt offered as well.

My reason was a closer commute to langara/kwantlen and my program director said no problem. But this was for summer so it might be different than during the normal school year. Decided against it tho because the course is 3 months long while ubc is only a month and a bit lol.

No, it was a Physics 170 equivalent. The one for 1st year engineering. UBC decided to not offer it just for that summer, and I thought I would need it for transferring to 2nd year.
