Annoying Helicopter Okay so for the past few weeks there's been a helicopter flying overhead consistently in the early afternoon I was like "whatever" but late @ night i can hear it flying overhead too and today I saw it fly over the nearest intersection and it was flying low... like low enough that i thought it would hit a neighbours roof / tree in their yard i could make out the pilot even! its a plain white Chopper with a Red stripe near its tail and literally just now it flew over our neighbourhood again! @ 4:30am it doesn't have a spotlight shining but when i looked up you could see the little light on underneath it and again it was low.... wtf???? Maple Ridge btw near Golden Ears park /rant edit: there was a grow op bust in june in maple ridge where they had their own chopper @ the site too wonder if this is another.... but the chopper i saw was pretty big looked bigger than the Air1 chopper |
|
rofl if they were doin that they should just knock on the door in the afternoon and let an insomniac Try to sleep @ this hour |
|
Ya, if its a low flying chopper near golden ears, there's a good chance its looking for grow ops. That little light you're seeing may be a thermal detector if they're looking for indoor ops. |
^ i guess that makes sense but the thing isn't even painted in police colours whatever it is its annoying as hell IM STILL AWAKE NOW -_- |
point a green laser at it ... :troll: maybe call the non-emerg # and see if they know anything about it ? |
I believe I say that one yesterday afternoon flying low in Poco. It could be some sort of training maybe? |
If you can make out the pilot then you should be able to grab the ident off him. Then file a CADORS for him cuz unless he's landing or it's a cop he's illegal. |
i went camping at golden ear last week, was it Yellow heli ? there were 1 or 2 constantly flying around when i was there |
ghetto bird yo |
I'm thinking it was white with a red stripe the one I saw yesterday was anyways. I believe the yellow ones are search and rescue or for firefighting |

i believe the yellow one is indeed for search and rescue |
|
^^^ a bit far from the search area & yeah its a white one with the red stripe the yellows are the rescue i should have looked for his # but all i was more shocked by a heli flying so low i dont even recall seeing numbers on it |

If you can grab the aircraft registration, that's your best bet. C-FXXX or C-GXXX is what you'll see along the tail boom and possibly on the bottom of the fuselage. (If it's an American plane it'll be N#####, like GabAlmighty said. It may have one or two letters, though.) Once you get the ident, you can find out some information quite easily: Canadian Civil Aircraft Register - Quick Search Go to that link and plug the ident into the field "Mark" and you'll see a lot of information including who the registered owner is. To actually report the incident, go to this link: Report an Incident - Report an Aviation Incident Under Incident type, you can select "Alleged regulatory infraction." (If you're interested in which regulation it is, search up CARs 602.12 - 602.15.) GabAlmighty, I take it you fly? |
That's correct good sir, yourself? |
I do, I do. Nice to know of other pilots here on RS. Can't say I'm surprised... we've quite the member-base here. |

lol, wasn't there a thread similar to this about a week ago? and people said it was because they were looking for a lost old man? |
Did you notice if there was a camera mounted to the front? At times film/tv productions will have heli's fly over the city/suburbs pretty low to get stock aerial footage, which would require the heli to fly over the same pattern continually multiple times. When this happened last month in downtown Vancouver around midnight, there were a lot of calls to 911 lol. |
