is this a good laptop deal?

12 Days of Dell | Dell Canada

Just wondering if this is any good for its price:

Dell XPS 17''
- 2nd gen Corei7-2630QM processor 2.00 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz
- Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64-Bit, English
- Elemental Silver Aluminum
- 17.3" HD+ (900p) LED Display
- 2.0MP HD Webcam
- 8GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 Memory
- 1.0TB 500GB 7.2k HDD x 2
- NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 550M 1GB graphics with Optimus
- 8X Tray Load CD/DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive)
- 1 Year Basic Mail-In Service Plan

$999.99 + HST

Looking to just use it for regular steam games and some D3 hopefully when it comes out

Pretty good deal. The 500GB x2 HDD is interesting though...

Striped together for performance. Would be better if it was 1080p screen.

^^ agree I would expect any 17inch laptop with 1080p screen these days. Heck even some of the higer model of 15inch have 1080p screen.

Personally I am so use to 1080 screens I would not go to a lower one.

That is going to be a heavy laptop, you can probably get a Asus with similar specs and cheaper.

edit: i'm pretty sure you can modify on Dell to change your screen resolution to 1080 for extra $$
