eh i wouldnt do anything either

a bikes just a bike

better than risking a slugfest or a stabbing etc to save someones bicycle

it'd make sense to call the police sure but get in the way of some crackheads source for his next hit? no thanks

An average person would quickly assume that someone using a bolt cutter to cut a lock is stealing a bike.

Someone more wise would think, maybe it's his bike and he forgot the combination/key to the lock.

Would an innocent bystander risk their safety or get in a feud for a bike that is not theirs? It's reasonable to say that, they won't.

I can say over a bicycle... I wouldn't say too much.
But if it was a car.. I'd be more willing to step in..
or if I had 1+ people with me I'd step in to stop it.

Its the group mentality problem, where the more people that witness it, the more they think someone else will do something about it.

If the same experiment was done in a small town the results would be different.

dignatas 09-22-2011 08:21 AM

I am sure people would hate getting whacked in the face by those cutters so risking it is not worth it for someone else's bike. If i had more people i would just tackle him down :fuckyea: but If I am by myself :alone:

gdoh 09-22-2011 08:22 AM

i would have knocked him out just go up behind him and start punching him in the face

melloman 09-22-2011 08:26 AM

^^..... turns out it is his own bicycle... :troll:

small town is different, What the hell would the guy do with the bike? Everyone will see him riding it and eventually the owner would see it aswell.

I'd probably ask in curiosity, maybe stop them if it was a nice bike. If it was my own bike I'd take out my screwdriver and stab them in the leg with it. My bikes not even worth any money but stealing should never be tolerated.(Movies and music are an exception.)

LP700-4 09-22-2011 04:21 PM

I park my bike outside a lot of the time.

Only time i had problems was when some guy decided that it was a good idea to flip my bike upside down...

Thieves tend to go for the more common low end bikes. Me and a group of friends park our bikes outside of lansdowne, come back later see that the two canadian tire bikes were stolen off the racks, but my Devinci and buddies Norco was still intact. Bystander got a picture of the theif but was we never found him...

El Bastardo 09-22-2011 05:26 PM

:fuckthatshit:

I'm not getting stabbed with an AIDS-ridden hypodermic needle over someone else's bike. I've already had a knife pulled on me by the crackhead who broke into my Ford. If I'm not gonna get hurt for my ride, I'm sure as hell not going to for yours.

CharlieH 09-22-2011 06:13 PM

who the hell cares? maybe this will encourage those god damn hipsters to buy a car instead.

b0unce. [?] 09-22-2011 08:21 PM

most of the time people dont want to get involved or dont care about the matter.

Ronin 09-22-2011 09:51 PM

Meh. I wouldn't risk it for someone else's shit. If I see someone stealing MY bike? Well, then maybe but even then.

...unless I could sneak up on them and smash 'em over the head with a brick or something.

PHO? 09-22-2011 10:45 PM

I agree group mentality. I can't remember where I read it but from what I remember it's always better to yell fire then to yell theif, help, rape, gun ect. Everyone is going to get involved if they hear fire but alot of people would rather avoid getting their self involved in any type of assault/theft.

Lesson is if your getting raped in an dark alley scream fire if you want any help.:suspicious:

JesseBlue 09-23-2011 01:32 AM

looking at the video, he pretty much has two potential weapons which could be used for someone just asking if that was his...

good try on the 'what would you do' bit but they shoulda just copied the same tactic..which was using a hacksaw or a girl asking for help cutting the chains...
