They are really good in the rain, don't even bother in the snow though. I got 255.30.19 and 275.30.19 mount and balance for around a grand if I remember correctly. They are directional tires so just remember that you can't rotate (unless fronts and rears are same size). I honestly think they are wicked for the price. Not sure about your experienxe with Sorat, I've only been there once for these tires. Not the greatest shop, but its just tires...lol Posted via RS Mobile |
Its almost October, don't waste money on all seasons now if your on a tight budget, because your traction will begin to suck again once it starts getting cold and the tire compound hardens. Buy a cheap set of winters and start saving for summer/all seasons in the spring. |

At near full tread they managed to get me the fuck out of there when the snow suddenly came down at SFU a couple years back. They beat the crap out of my Blizzak WS-70's in the rain too. I noticed a huge improvement switching over this year. It's crazy how good these tires are. |
The Star Spec is a kick ass tire for the money but it is a SUMMER tire - the tread pattern works well for rain but it is going to be hard as a rock in the winter time. I have been running Continental DWS through the snow last winter and all summer, and I am a HUGE fan - they will also last a lot longer than the Star Specs as they are not quite as high performance of a tire. ^ I've got a set of Falken 452's, picked them up new 215/40/17 for $650 cash on my lude. So far, I must admit they were the best tires I've had so far. I take on ramps in 3rd gear around 85-95 km/hr on dry conditions and in the rain at least 70-80 km/hr. You can hear it squeal a little bit but they grip like crazy. |
Hey thread jack, Hankook Ventus V12's 280 AA A $171/$165 vs Kumho Ecsta SPT 320 AA A $183/$192 how accurate are these tread wear ratings? i want something that will last and stand up to some street ricing. thanks |
From my personal experience, I really like my Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position. Best all season tires I've ever used in the rain! Never tried it in the snow yet... Very good dry traction and treadwear as well! I don't see your size on Tire Rack though. There's a newer model that's seems to perform even better! The Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position. They have your size. Here's a test review. Came first overall: Testing Bridgestone's Potenza RE970AS Pole Position Ultra High Performance All-Season Tire |
DW/DWS hands down by Conti :stfu: |

Summer vs All Season vs Winter tire test Tire Test: All-Season vs. Snow vs. Summer. What is unexpected is that all seasons perform the worst in the wet, by a pretty big margin... |
Yokohama Envigors, continental DWS, and. I forgot which Nokian. Posted via RS Mobile |

from what i remember, Dry and wet grip, the summers were the best, then the Winters were second best and the all seasons were the worst. Winters performed better even though they felt soft, but they got pretty beaten up. and as you would assume winters did the best in snow followed by all seasons and the summers for the most part couldn't move. |
rt615 are great in the rain, though they feel horrible because the comparison grip between dry and wet is so different. i had some 18" venezia tires on a skyline at the track on a snow day and the car was amazing. i run them as front on the 240 drift car and there not bad dry tires. no 615 or T1R but those tires will kill you in snow. |
