Since OP's question is answered, anyone know where I can get those hats that have the bill on the side? All the ones I see have the bill in the front.

oops i had a feeling they were stretched but don't really have knowledge of tires lol. what size tires are those do you think will stretch like that on 18 inch rims or are they stretched because the rims are wide? any cons to doing that? I'd like to know what options i have of tires since theres limited sizes in 225 40's that im currently looking at. THANKS

Tires are stretched when a tire smaller than the appropriate size is mounted on any given width of rim. Check tyrestretch.com to compare tire size to rim width.

Pros:
Looks good.
Less side wall movement when in a drift.

Cons:
Pushes tire beyond manufacturers guidelines, increasing the likelihood of failure.

ahh thanks so much. Currently I have 114.3 18 inch rim on my car, which one of those sizes on the website do you think come closest to the one looking in my link above? would I have to buy something lower than 225 40?

Haven't heard of that happening yet though. I do hear people get their rims scratched to hell with the tires stretched defeating the sidewall protector.

Bolt pattern size is not needed. Your rims are 18^ but how wide are they>

For Example, My rims are 17" x 7" wide. Im running a 235/40ZR17 on my rear, and they are close to being square with the rim

i hate asking but why do you wanna do this anyway, do you know why people even have stretched tires?

i think people stretch tires when they 'need' to

nvm just looked at specs, my rim is 18x8. I am just wondering what tires will fit nicely like the tires up there in the link for 18 inch rims. I am trying to find ones that don't look like rally tires, but smooth like that with stretch that looks more flush.

Tire failure isn't extremely common, but I've heard of it happening for two reasons:
The tire bead breaking loose - probably more common on ghetto DIY stretches.
The excessive stress placed on the side wall.

I've definitely heard that stretched tires are more susceptible to curb damage, due to the lack of protection normally given by the side wall. Also, some people encourage running higher tire pressure when on stretched tires which results in increased tire wear.

You wont be able to stretch anything on an. 8" rim. Heres a 215/35 18 on a 8" rim. Pretty much square. Rear is 225 40 on a 9" rim

Camber > Stretching thinner tire than OE Spec.

Also, stretching tires just because it "looks cool" is stupid. You only stretch for fitment issues. If you're rolling on sunken wheels and have stretched tires, you're a ricer.

What you need are square tires.
