Russell Peters in Surrey Sat The stars of the new Bollywood/ Hollywood fusion movie Breakaway will be in Surrey this Saturday at The Bell Centre from 12 to 4pm. Admission is free for everyone. Russell Peters, Vinay Virmani and Gurpreet Ghuggi will be on hand to meet fans. There will also be concert performances by groups like JoSH and Punjabi By Nature. Breakaway is produced by Akshay Kumar and features the story of a Sikh-Canadian boy (Vinay Virmani) who wants to play hockey but cannot find a spot on his regional team. Unwilling to give up on his dream, he forms his own team (coached by Rob Lowe) and so begins his journey to prove himself a hockey player worthy of Canadian standards. This Bend it like Beckham-like comedy also has a romantic element as Virmani falls in love with the coach’s younger sister played by Camilla Belle. The film features cameos by Akshay Kumar and Drake. Breakaway premiers at a Red Carpet Gala on Saturday evening at 6pm at Burrard Scotiabank Theatre. It opens nationwide on Sept 29th. |

This came out last year. Don't know were it's going. NBC plans Russell Peters sitcom - Entertainment News, TV News, Media - Variety NBC plans Russell Peters sitcom Series will be based on standup comic's life By Michael Schneider NBC is developing a half-hour around standup comic Russell Peters. "Cheers" alum Rob Long, also known for his regular KCRW commentary "Martini Shot" and his stint as a contributing editor for National Review, is onboard to write the sitcom. Show will be loosely based on Peters' family life. The comedian, who was raised in Canada to parents who had immigrated from India, was married earlier this year and is expecting his first child in 2011. Universal Media Studios is behind the project along with American Work. Ravi Nandan and Scot Armstrong will exec produce with Long and Peters (who is set to star). Peters has developed a strong following across the globe, selling out tours in the U.S., Australia, Singapore, India, the Philippines and Canada, among other stops. In 2009, he was ranked as one of the top ten highest-grossing comics in the U.S. Peters appeared in the Comedy Central special "Russell Peters: Red, White and Brown," and also hosted Showtime's "Comics Without Borders" and "Russell Peters Presents." He'll next be seen in the Duncan Jones-helmed feature "Source Code," starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Vera Farmiga. That film is set for a 2011 release. ^ Someone kill me. On a serious note, I really don't find this guy funny, he was funny a few years back but now he seems to repetitive with his material but hey, that's just my opinion :) |
I watched his Green Card Tour special on DVD. He closed out the set with a 10 minute bit on bowel movements. It was a trainwreck. |
was gonna order pizza tonight .. will have to be whitespot .. |

I never liked Russel Peters. I always find he laughs at his own jokes, and the punchlines are predictable: You know this humourous thing I noticed about white guys...Indians don`t do it. Hahahha I don`t like the one-trick comics. George Lopez always does the Mexican thing, Peters is the white guy vs. Indian thing. |
