Any recommendation for desktop network adapter that's good for BB50?
My laptop is getting 40mbps, but the desktop with an old Dlink network adapter only gets 15mbps
Thanks

Try rebooting your router or modem. If that doesn't fix it complain.

I was having shit speeds with BB50 as well when I first got it. Around 2-3 mb/s. After switching the shaw modem to just be a modem and connecting my old dlink router, I am now getting speeds of around 20-25 mb/s. The highest I ever got was around 40 mb/s with a wired connection.
Shaw said there is nothing wrong with the connection and that these speeds are fine???

people with older houses, take note . sometimes old wiring can be a culprit especially if you are splitting your line to a TV or Home phone. my parents lines couldnt even support a TV and phone. I moved the phone modem to another spot/outlet in the house. all is good now.

I've tried different servers on speedtest.net still getting the same speeds. What's weird is that I used the shaw speed test, I've gotten up to 30-45mbps but doesn't perform like it.

i know speedtests are easy to use and you have a figure to grab onto. but isn't it easier to do 10 downloads in jdownloader or utorrent and look at the total values? i mean is it really meaningful to have speedtest.net show you ur getting a shitty 15mbps, while you're d/l itunes from apple at 3 megabytes/second EACH if ur doing simultaneous ones? it's even more convincing to tech support if you can show him/her that by maximizing your wired connection using good NA servers you're still getting shitty speeds, it may really warrant a tech to come out.
i don't use their cisco modem/router's wireless feature (it's in bridge mode), but if you can get 40mbps+ wired, buy a better router. i believe ppl on bb50 and up were given these modem/router because they are docsis 3, and the wireless router feature was just added value.

Just did a speedtest today on my gf's new Novus 25mbit account downtown and my Shaw BroadBand 50.
Her Novus:
Ping: 6ms
Download: 23.45Mbps
Upload: 19.82Mbps
My Shaw:
Ping: 16ms
Download: 29.78Mbps
Upload: 2.86Mbps
I cannot believe how her upload SLAUGHTERS my Shaw account... it isn't even funny!
Mark

i usually can max out my bandwidth on BT @ 4.5-5 MB/s.
50 Mbit = 6.25 MByte/sec
you might hit the max on off peak times. I never have. I normally get 35-45 Mbit/sec. uploads are capped at 3Mbit on shaw BB50
