Bell or Rogers plan for iPhone 4S?

I'm about to buy a 32gb iPhone 4S and was wondering which $50 plan was better? Bell or Rogers? Including Caller ID, Rogers will be cheaper than Bell by $4/month. But the main point is, which company is better in terms of reception and data speed?

Teh Doucher 10-15-2011 11:28 PM

Rogers.

If you're signing a new contract, just try Future Shop, Best Buy, Wireless Wave, T-Booth or London Drugs. They have a larger chance of having stock cuz usually they don't sell outright and they only allow new activations.
Also if you don't mind travelling, look for places in like Tsawwassen/White Rock/Abbotsford.

o_O" 10-16-2011 12:44 AM

So which carrier is better between Bell and Rogers? I heard Bell has faster data speed?

jaebomb 10-16-2011 01:16 AM

Rogers has better reception around the Lowermainland. It also supports 2G in when 3G doesn't work, or when you want to save battery.
Edit: Wait nvm iPhone 4S cannot even switch between 3G/2G.. it can only turn data on/off. Fail.

BaoTurbo 10-16-2011 01:28 AM

Isn't bell and rogers now using the same network towers? GSM? Or something? I'm sure but I forgot the same cuz Rogers had to cancel "fastest network in canada" after bell upgraded their network

No. They are separate. Bellus has their own towers and are now offering up to "4G" type speeds.

yes, but you cant talk on the phone and browse at the same time on bell... you can on rogers!

shenmecar 10-16-2011 10:15 AM

Rogers uses a GSM + HSPA network.

Bell and Telus uses the same CDMA + HSPA network.

Reception-wise, Rogers is better, Im using Rogers and I can still get reception inside T&T at metrotown. My brother who is on Telus cannot. And I heard Bell has the same issue too at that part of metrotown.

Data speed, Bell is faster.

But does the 4S support those speeds? I thought you have to have a superphone like Galaxy S2. Anyone know the speed differences between Bell and Rogers?

oh wow, so no multitasking while talking?

My friend is with Rogers and he says his 3G changes to E and his reception dies when he's in the skytrain underground.

BaoTurbo 10-16-2011 10:49 AM

Friend is using the Infuse 4G, he says he doesn't feel a huge difference between 4G and 3G

Tegra_Devil 10-16-2011 12:44 PM

Infuse is not taking advantage of the speeds cause there's no speed to take advantage of. You won't see any difference on Rogers until their LTE network with an LTE phone.

4S supports faster throughput at about 14.4mbps

Skytrain tunnels have always been like that. The only skytrain tunnels that you'll get good data is in the Canada Line as they have cellular repeaters in the tunnels.

KK. So i got it from Rogers. What's the fastest way to get my contacts from a Fido Nokia SIM onto my iPhone? Should I put my microsim onto the full SIM tray and copy contacts from my nokia?
