$20 bet that the OP is going to want to trade or sell the car in a month.

kroy546 10-23-2011 11:37 PM

just drive normally, dont get any unwanted attention to begin with

if you do get pulled over, i am sure the cop will ding u here and there

However,

even though you drive normally, your car is soooo heaty that you will still get unwanted attention from us and cops

my $0.02 is, get rid of anything that will result in an instant box 1 VI (stuff like, aftermarket steering wheel, roll cage, crash bars, etc these you have to ask guys with experience, i personally had a box 1 VI tow away right on spot having no crash bar)

not sure if the ride height will get you a box 1 but I got a box 2 for the ride height, loud exhaust and no horn button, (vehicle doesn't have to be removed from the road for box 2, just need to pass inspection within a time usually 30 days which you can further modify your car to suit your daily driving needs as well as complying with the MVA without attracting unnecessary attention)

jing 10-23-2011 11:51 PM

Throw the stock exhaust back on and remove the cage and you'll attract a lot less unwanted attention and give the cops two less reasons to pull you over. Speaking from personal experience, even if you drive like a grandma, the cops don't give a shit. If your car is flashy and they're feeling up for it, they'll get you.

PiuYi 10-24-2011 01:44 AM

okay so we all know richmond cops are the worst with giving VI's to modded cars, but where is the worst place for somebody with a lowered car to live? I'd wouldve guessed coquitlam area.... i can get by fine around richmond 95% of the time

XplicitLuder 10-24-2011 07:27 AM

coquitlam does seem to be a competative city in these situations. I was picking up this girl for a date from her house this one time, and i didnt have my N on, and right as i left her house and got onto the street i saw a cop coming far from behind and i got pulled over :ahwow:

What suspension is the car on? I forgot what the previous owner said in his FS thread.

It looks good, but it is a huge pain when driving a car with that low of a front bumper.

jpark 10-24-2011 07:48 AM

coquitlam is not bad at all actually lol, my previous car - i drove by so many cops with my all around tinted windows rolled up and didnt even get hassled once.. i remember a cop starred at me though but didnt do anything..

New Westminster is pretty bad though in my opinion, just cuz i got pulled over for that tint fuuuuuuu

i forgot as well and i never got a chance to copy paste all the details in his post. from what i remember i think its the typical shocks and springs. ill definitely know later in the day as i need to get the brakes checked out cuz its making the loudest squeaking noise. sounds as bad as a cargo truck brakes.

I disagree with swapping the stock parts back on...or removing the cage.

Crash bar is must however, I wouldn't ride around without one. AFAIK you can get in trouble if you replaced your stock steering wheel (with an airbag) with an aftermarket steering wheel that doesn't have an airbag (at least put a freaking horn button on it!)

Getting a quieter, but still sporty, exhaust would be a way better compromise than putting on the stock exhaust. Go look into Tanabe exhausts, most of them have lower dB ratings without sacrificing tone / flow.

im definitely not putting the stock exhaust back on. that would make the supercharger setup seem almost worthless. Im definitely gonna look into either a different exhaust setup that has lower dbs or if my muffler comes with a silencer then ill go for that. roll cage though i gotta take out as it is a definite invite to a VI.

Which perch is the shocks set on? If the spring perch is set on the lowest setting, then you can simply raise up to a higher perch to get some more height.

hmm... ill definitely ask drivehard about that. if i can raise it up with just that then thats definitely a cheaper way to go.

Phil@rise 10-24-2011 09:22 AM

Keep the exhaust put in a high flow cat it'll quiet it down a bit and pad the cage before you rap your head on it.

Is the cage padded up front ?

If not its a deadly accident waiting to happen.. Small fender bender and the side of your head impacting the bar will leave a splitting headache or worse..

Its not like your tracking the car, remove the cage

Better to be safe then sorry..

I lives in coq for a year while driving the biggest heat score you'll ever see and was never once hassled. I just kept the rpms below 3k and didn't break the law at all.

crushco cage is more about looks than safety anyways :lol

i guess steering wheel could be a problem because of airbag removal but as long as you have a working horn....

edit: i forgot to mention, since you have Koni yellows, you could try looking into buying a set of coilover sleeves from ground control. if available, they will fit your koni's perfectly and give you height adjustability.

I disagree, the bar is no where near your head (depending on your height).
Me and him are roughly the same height and even wite the stock seat theres plenty of clearance. I was using super low mount rails before too.

While I usually make the same argument, I generally will not tell people that it is safe, because it isn't. In the event of an accident, you cannot predict or control where your body/head will go. This is basic physics.

But if it is your car, you can do what you want but a Cusco cage is only for looks and will not protect you in an accident.

Leave the ride height. It's good as is.
