rip ferrari....another classic thrashed by a pos ranger.

we need video redlinesdaily!!!

Redlines_Daily 10-25-2011 06:52 PM

Here is the video, you can't see much of the crash though..also the video hosting site really degraded the quality. If you look closely at the lights, my light had turned green when the impact happened, so Im thinking the truck must have run the red.

The truck driver always has the right of way unless it can be proven that he ran a RED light.
Just be patient and wait until oncoming traffic has stopped before your turn. Like you said, accidents like these are so easily avoided.

You make it sound like it's the person making the left hand turn's fault. You are right to some extent that he/she should judge the speed of oncoming cars before committing a left turn, but I've seen way to many morons who attempt to speed up rather than slow down on a yellow light. This is somewhat forgivable if there was no one making a left turn on the opposite lane, but pulling that shit off in heavy traffic when there's clearly a car flashing his/her signals to turn left pisses me off.

XplicitLuder 10-25-2011 07:43 PM

so this is what my buddy at work was telling me..that sucks :(

Djiban 10-25-2011 07:44 PM

That truck ran a red light for sure cuz as Redlines mentioned, the light turned green when they crashed.

LP700-4 10-25-2011 08:00 PM

^Either that or a VERY late yellow. Poor Ferrari.

To really know for sure you just need to go back to the intersection and see if there's any overlap of the lights (how many seconds, if any, are there between the other light turning red and yours turning green). That would prove he didn't just run a light that changed red while he was in the intersection, but was red before he entered it.

Don't let this red-light-running-asshole get away with this.

124Y 10-25-2011 08:43 PM

It is quite obvious that the truck ran a red; the light turned green on OP's side just when the collision happened, so the lights perpendicular to the OP must have turned red before the truck entered the intersection. The time from the truck entering the intersection to the point where the light on OP's side turns green is more than likely shorter than the time when both red lights are overlapping.

damn, same thing happened to cousins ferrari :( hope it goes better in the end for the ferrari owner

StylinRed 10-25-2011 09:05 PM

well fmov has had a beautiful testarossa thats been sitting in there for awhile Ferrari Testarossa

:(

truck almost pawned us the other day too; we were turning left, the light had already gone red with us in the middle of the intersection and the guy in the truck wasnt slowing down but my friend didnt notice he was going to run the light until it was almost too late

guy in the truck slammed on his brakes and blared his horn, i'd probably be sitting in the hospital or worse -_-

Mr.C 10-25-2011 09:07 PM

That light has a delay of a second or so, I believe. You can hear the truck already braking, and he was smoking rubber when he hit the Ferrari. Bet he saw the light change, slammed on the brakes, but was going way too fast.

CP.AR 10-25-2011 09:11 PM

i would say ur video is pretty good in terms of evidence... that was a VERY stale yellow if not already red by the time the truck crossed the line (which constitutes running a red light)

TouringTeg 10-25-2011 09:13 PM

I hope the OP video helps prove the driver of the truck was at fault. You can definitely see the light change to green while the driver is skidding into the intersection. If the delay is more than a second or two, they had a red.

littledog 10-25-2011 10:02 PM

It's impossible to tell whether the truck ran a yellow or red unless we know how much delay was programmed between the red/green. Keep in mind that it's the time when the truck enters the intersection that counts, not when the impact happens. I would say it's either a really very late yellow or it just turned red.

I've been burned before. I was nailed while being the second car turning left after the traffic light changed. Now I always wait till I can see the oncoming traffic slowed way down before I proceed to make a left turn.

ICBC can get that info in 5 seconds.
If the ferrari owner used that video as evidence, I don't see why they would put him at fault assuming the truck ran a red.

kookoobird88 10-25-2011 10:30 PM

when im turning left i always wait till the cars have stopped or that i can tell they are stopping before execute the turn. you would think the guy in the ferrari shouldve been able to tell that the truck was coming fast. who knows i'm not in their shoes. I have had a few times where people ran the red before i made the full left turn, and glad i didnt proceed or else my car would be looking like that ferrari. thus why i hate intersections wit no left hand advance
