cream of the crop restaurants in the entire Greater Vancouver would be Morton, Gotham, and Hy's, in that order.

be prepared to pay $25+ for a salad, $40+ for an appetizer, and $80+ for a steak or entree alone though.

parents are paying? Just giving suggestions here since I don't know how wealthy are their parents. Vancouver has some seriously balling kids by the way, in case OP is one of them.

ok by formal dining do you mean like $100 a head sort of thing? or just something upscale compared to what you're used to? if the latter, try just going to cactus or something. it'll probably satisfy your tastes especially if you have 15 people going.

I don't really understand why 16 year old little kids like to play dress up for birthday dinners. Wearing a proper suit is so uncomfortable to eat. But then again, when I think of 16 year olds dressed up "formally", it would be half buttoned up shirts, white pants, white leather shoes. I won't complain about the slutty dresses LGs wear though.

With 15-20 people, and you can't drink at that age, just have the dinner anywhere in Yaletown that will accomendate your group. Keg in Yaletown is not bad for price and food. And why is the birthday girl treating everyone? :fulloffuck:

imo most fine dining resto's in this city suck. Keep it real. Fine dining is dumb.

Hey! Don't trash on the white leather shoes.
I have a pair and are among my favorite shoes.
They are Fluevogs though... So it's pretty legit at least. :concentrate:

Booking a private room at Main Street Sun Sui Wah is pretty nice. The food is great and it's not something you're not used to since you're asian.

For a more formal setting, if money is not an issue, maybe ShoreClub? Fairly nice setting and the Red Robins/Kegs crowd will still feel comfortable ordering from the menu.

The kids will probably feel intimidated at most French or Italian restaurants.
