Looking for witness!

Accident on Oct 29, 2011, 12:05AM. (last night)

Location: Kingsway, heading SE, between Sidney + Gladstone

Cars invovled:

- Black Cayenne S, Plate number: 508 HXC (guys who hit me)
- White E92 M3 (mine)

Road had 3 lanes, I was traveling in middle lane. There was a ford flex in front of me, stopped, with emergency blinkers on, trying to load up passengers (which is illegal because this should happen on the far right lane).

Far left lane was full of oncoming traffic, so I had to wait for the Flex to finish loading up. I was fully stopped, with emergency blinkers on as well, waiting for an opportunity to merge into the far left lane to continue proceeding.

Next thing I know, a black cayenne rammed into the rear end of my car out of nowhere. The impact was severe:

- Cayenne's nose is completely flat with smoke and liquid coming out. Both airbags were popped.

- My car's rear end was completely destroyed. I had an instant headache and felt dizziness.

I exited the car immediately to inspect the damage and obtain the other driver's information. 2 Asian guys came out of the Cayenne (Viet, by the languages they speak), both looking drunk.

The driver was about 5'6", around 35-40, didn't speak English. He saw me calling the police, and tried to stop me from doing so.

The passenger was about 5"9", around 25-28, spoke a little English. He immediately denied he was 1) he was in the car and 2) he knows the driver.

I called the police right away, and while I was doing so, these 2 guys fled scene!

Fortunately there was a police car right across the street, and 3 new ones arrived within minutes. Then firemen and tow trucks also arrived.

There was at least 1 security guard on site who witnessed the 2 Asian guys running away from the scence, and provided this evident to the police. Police also took my statement and photos, and gave me file number.

I already filed a claim to ICBC, and have an appointment on Monday.

I am looking for potential witness here on RS who was driving by / saw this incident. I need your help please.

XplicitLuder 10-29-2011 08:43 AM

wow that is so low! i hope they catch those bastards, hope you're okay man

Jermyzy 10-29-2011 08:53 AM

At least it sounds like ICBC will side in your favour for sure, since they rear-ended you. Good thing you got their license plate. Might want to get checked out by a doctor ASAP

hirevtuner 10-29-2011 10:08 AM

so the 2 asian guys basically fled on foot and left the car there? then you won't have a problem suing them in court for injury as well

LSF22 10-29-2011 10:19 AM

At least with their license plate, hope they'll be able to catch the assholes!

Go see a doc and hope you're ok man!

Death2Theft 10-29-2011 10:48 AM

Catching them is one thing they fled from the scene so no one could check them for drinking, not to avoid being caught.

donjalapeno 10-29-2011 11:16 AM

bastards......how did they leave with the car smoking and liquids flowing from under?....i couldnt imagine they got too far before the car overheating.

Jgresch 10-29-2011 11:26 AM

I think they ran not drove.

if they ran then they're absolute retards.

124Y 10-29-2011 11:32 AM

The 2 Asian guy fled on foot and left the car there. They fled the scene most likely to avoid being tested for drinking and driving.

OP is a very good friend of mine and he just took delivery of his new E92 M3 YESTERDAY, so it really sucks to hear about this. The good thing is that there are a few witnesses who saw the entire incident and has given their statements to the police. Let's hope for the best.

Its time to lawyer up!

maybe they ran away because the car was stolen?

IMO leaving your vehicle like that unattended after the accident is going to raise more questions.

its a friday night and you rear end someone, alcohol is going to be assumed a factor anyways especially with that much damage.

if doesn't sound like they hit the brake too soon, it sounds like they smashed into your car pretty hard because of intoxication.

glad your okay with minor injuries, but still lawyer up because ICBC does not have your best interest in mind.

Send me a PM if you have any questions

Honyoung 10-29-2011 11:40 AM

^was thinking that too

why would the passenger deny he was in the car and that he didnt know the driver also

Timstah 10-29-2011 11:44 AM

Sucks to hear OP.

Those guys will be in shit regardless, for fleaing the scene especially...
You have their plates so they will be tracked down easy.

wuuhoo 10-29-2011 01:56 PM

good to know you are okay. Drove by there around 1230 and saw the damage to the bimmer already so I dont what help I can be.

Seems like there was a lot of people at the halloween party near the hall there.

Hi guys, thank you kindly for all the input!

I was, and still am very traumatized. I JUST picked up the car 6 yesterday, and I have been working hard for her for years. I am drastically shocked and depressed at the moment.

I have a headache and neck pain, and just came back from hospital. Going for a CT scan tomorrow.

I am going to sue these bastards as hard as I could. CBC wants to see me in Monday, and the car will be repaired by No.1 collision in richmond. I am not sure if it's repairable though, as I did not hear the cayenne braking at all, they simply rammed into me, under influence of alcohol.

FX35 10-29-2011 06:04 PM

Anyone know about reputation of No.1 Collisions? ICBC told me they repair "specialty cars".

FX35 10-29-2011 06:18 PM

One more thing: my M3 is dual clutch transmission. I assume this mean car's transmission MUST be in Neutral when being towed on the front wheels, right?

I am not sure if the tow truck driver put the car in Neutral when he towed the car last night. I am thinking of going to the yard again tomorrow to put the car in neutral, so at least it will be in this state when being towed to the body shop next week?

IIRC they specialize in BMWs and do some of BJ BMW's cars

Doesnt the M3 have an electronic gear selector? How will you put it into neutral without the transmission choosing park before shutting down?

Edit: Yea, you're gonna have to do it manually.
