I like how this guy has managed to give his opinion without being racist, without being prejudice and without casting any stereotypes. Good on you man; because to be honest, it's a rare thing to find.

You've stated that you think Sikh youth are for the most part, bratty and and lack manners and acknowledged that this was based on your experience. No one can argue that or tell you that you're wrong and for that reason, I respect your sentiment; even though I am, Sikh and would still consider myself as a member of the "Youth" category even them I am in my late 20's.

That being said, religion whether it being Sikhism or another, has it's pros and cons. At the end of the day, you can find flaws in everything. There are homeless shelters supported and funded by Vancouver Christian and Catholic Churches downtown. Sikh Temples provide refuge and food for all people regardless of their class, wealth, color or religion. A place where no one person is better than any other. Food drives and Christmas hampers are often backed up by some religious foundation. But I see where you're coming from AAnthony, nothing good ever comes out from religion

----------------------------------------------------

That being said, Vancouver is a city with a great deal of diversity. Not just religion but a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds (=better foods?) We've been managed to be on the annual Top 5 list of most liveable cities in the World SEVERAL times which is a huge accomplishment. In fact, we were the first city to rank among the top-ten of the world's most liveable cities for five straight years.

We are the third largest film-producing city in North America (only behind L.A. and New York.)

Lastly, I'd consider Whistler apart of Vancouver. After all, Vancouver 2010 games were hosted in Whistler as well. Whistler has won tons of awards for best mountain/resort in North America and is actually known globally and not just by skiers and snowboarders...

got a punjabi friend that lives in the brown neighbor hood near marine drive. Says he hates his own people because acts of violence happens all the time there. He tries in school and the rest are just dick heads. I feel bad for him and wish he lived somewhere far far away.

Anytime you talk about a group of people, you are going on the "offensive". You instinctively need to use terms like, "some, most, a lot" and you paint a large group of people with the same brush.

I have personally met a lot of great, nice EI people that work a normal job, and live a normal life.

Yeah, there is a group of EI guys that are thugs. Just the same as there is a group of Native guys that are thugs, and Vietnamese, Chinese and others.

If you want to start lumping people into categories, I get to claim the Bacon brothers and Willie Pickton in with my brethren, so who would I ever be to judge?

That I think is the real problem. Whenever my Punjabi friends get into a big, Punjabi majority group, the topic of gangsters always comes up. None of my friends are gangsters and most of them are in their early 30s and have at least a decent job.

Find new Punjabi friends then. Who sits around talking about gangsters every time they get together? Let alone, talking about it in their 30's! Whenever my group of Punjabi friends get together, they talk about sports, girls, cars, family and their jobs..

Your experiences will be influenced by the people you surround yourself with....not by the GENDER, RACE or CREED of people...It's not a genetic trait for people of dark skin to be gangsters or thugs, or wannabe-gangsters and thugs...It's an upbringing and social conditioning that guides people to become that way. Your eduction, your family, your friends and you social experiences all have a direct cause/effect on who you are today.
