Former Lexus IS300 owner. Test drove an 2006 IS250 before deciding to buy a 2010 A4 w/ sport package.

Found the Lexus lacking in power, backseats cramped, the body style has been out for awhile. But do want to stress brand reliability. I never had any issues with my old car despite 2 accidents.

For the Audi, flashier looking car, more enjoyable to drive, nice interior.. MSRP is higher and maintenance costs can be an issue later down the road (extended warranty offered at Cowell Audi was 3k but you can get 1k back if you never use it).

If I had to do it again, I would still pick the Audi.

Lexus IS because its more bang for the buck! The overall ride is alot more comfy in an IS

Grim 11-05-2011 01:24 PM

thanks for all the feed back!
having to read all the comments, im really stuck in my own dilemma

pk_volt 11-05-2011 01:51 PM

why not get a slightly used IS350? Power difference is HUUUGGGEEE

RSXBoii 11-05-2011 05:36 PM

is250 0-60 time is 8.5ish seconds. even if youre not really going for performance that kind of number is really pathetic for a car you pay that much for. I wouldnt be able to live with it personally. My sister's Chevy Cobalt LS is that fast.. it was $8000

Regardless of which one he picks, they aren't going to be 0-60 machines. If power was out of the equation, the comfort and reliability of the Lexus is hard to beat. You could be driving or just riding shot gun, the Lexus is smooth and easy to maneuver.

Best of luck OP, I've have nothing but good times with my Lexus!

donjalapeno 11-05-2011 06:16 PM

lexus is250 awd .......smoothest and most comfortable car ive ever driven and performance wasnt THAT bad...

A4 has better looks and peformance but needs more attention when it comes to maintenance

vyrospec 11-08-2011 08:47 AM

If you're just looking for comfort I'd say Lexus.
The price is more practical as well as lower future maintenance cost than Audi (unless money is not an issue for you)

GG 11-08-2011 08:50 AM

performance or not, 0-60 or not no one enjoys paying $40g for a car tat goes like a snail period.

underpower is underpower, there is no excuse

1990TSI 11-11-2011 12:59 AM

boss's wife has 08 is250, just did water pump at 65k kms(pissed out coolant)

toyota isn't as bullet proof as the ads say.

she also has brake noise complaints, wheels are already corroding, and the things slow as shit. Never understood why anyone would pay that much for it, when a yaris has more room and feels quicker

they jammed an underpowered v6 with an AWD driveline into a chassis fit for a 4 cyl FWD. do the math on that...(reliability and ease of maintenence)

Then there's audi. just remember that german engineering is a joke to fool stupid people into paying more money for sub-par products. Unless you're a fan of hitler, then audi may be for you.

AznK 12-12-2011 02:24 PM

Save up for a 350.. trust me..

maxx 12-12-2011 03:42 PM

so you'll enjoy a slow, thirsty car with an atrocious gearbox and paying through the nose for maintenance. and the fact that you are driving a toyota. well, good thing there are people like you, for people like me to make tons of money from.

xilley 12-12-2011 03:49 PM

just because someone didnt buy what you suggested.. lol :fuckthatshit:

maxx 12-12-2011 03:55 PM

^^no that does not matter to me.

LancerBoy 12-12-2011 07:58 PM

Why get an A4 when you can get more options with a Passat. Same shit.

What makes you think you can get more options in a Passat than an A4? I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain about the quantity or quality of options on an A4, if anything, the price of them...

For a early 20 yr old guy to buy his first real car, I want the best bang for the buck. 45g lexus that comes with EVERYTHING vs a 48g A4 premium that comes in power everything.. woopeedoo...

sorry you're one angry child, your childhood must've been rough.

obento_supreme 12-12-2011 08:11 PM

^ congrats on your fsport man

check out clublexus.com you might find some more info about the IS F bumper conversion, if I remember correct there is a couple members that may have done it so you could check that out and also check out sewell lexus for lower prices on oem parts

Firmware 12-12-2011 08:12 PM

Just test drive them all before you make any decision, it is always about the test drive.

Imo driving experience > extra gadgets.

The Lexus is an awesome choice.

After three years of ownership the interior materials still look and feel brand new.

PornMaster 12-12-2011 08:57 PM

On a serious note
get the lexus 250 awd
thing to watch out for is tires, the stock awd tires near end of its life is a screamer
