Been pretty happy with telus for the last year or so, had a few hardware issues but their technical assistance has been good. overall has been reliable and fast though.

would it be possible to get internet turbo25 upgraded to optik even if i'm just doing the standalone internet without tv? i want optik 25 and not this turbo 25

Shaw has better internet. Telus does download around 1.5mbs which is still nice and fast I have no complaints with that and I HORDE games and movies and tv shows.
Telus has unlimited bandwidth. Tv and internet are DIFFERENT connections from what I hear, so you won't get slow down.
I have 4 tvs in my house with 4 HD Boxes... we can only run 2 HD streams and 2 normal streams max... but I never have more than 3 tvs on at once.
telus phone works fine... house phone hardly use it 
Caller ID displayed on your TV = awesome feature from Telus
bottom line, I save $100 a month from what I was paying with shaw after promotion prices which were just rape. I Think I also get more HD channels from Telus doing this.

Okay I guess nabs can't negotiate any deals after promo since he has no clue! I'm not on contract, I bought all my receivers. I guess it's best to talk directly to a retention/csr?

Sorry don't mean to bring this up from the dead.
But are there any good promotions going on for Telus?
I'm looking to switch from Shaw since I'm paying an arm and a leg for High Speed Internet and home phone, which works out to be 70 bucks tax in.
EDIT: Looking to spend around 100-120 tax in per month for Telus Optik TV/Internet and home phone.

Free tablet is a great promo imo. You'll save decent $ for the first 6 months and their regular rates seem to be a little less than Shaw anyway. At least they were in my family's case. Me, my bro and my parents all got better package prices + the tablet for free. Made sense for us. My inlaws are probably switching too.
If you already have a tablet they have a couple other options for freebies as well.

Another quibble. The Guide on the iPhone Optik TV App has a little green "N" next to the show title indicating its a new episode. But the Guide on my STB doesn't have this. It's a small, but important feature when you're deciding what new shows to record. Posted via RS Mobile | |

^ I know that, but it's a hassle to have to wait for the info. Then you get the date in the format "20120105" and you have to look to see if it's the same date as today before you realize it's a new show.
I mentioned this previously in this thread. At least Shaw puts the word "New" or "Repeat" in the title so you know right away.
I actually use my iPhone to record shows now simply because it's faster knowing when new episodes are out.

Been using optik tv for a week now. Really like it. Channels on guide come up faster and I really like the preview mode they have. I can stay on a channel waiting until the commercial is over.
Also, has HD NFL network!!!

Sounds like telus is the way to go nowadays. Been with shaw for at least 10 yrs and I'm still paying 190 per month. That's for tv/internet, no home phone. It's like braking up with your gf that you don't love anymore, painfully but it has to be done  | |

I'm paying $85 a month with High Speed 10 and Personal TV + Best of HD + Family Pack (I can't live without Teletoon and Teletoon Retro)
Add another $35 for Vonage. Much cheaper than Shaw phone and wayyyyyy more features.

I signed a 3 year contract with telus.
Been happy so far.
the original price of my package with no deals was $130 a month before tax so after tax about $145
But after the promo and deals its at $79 before tax they always give promo deals so I am happy.
price breakdown after promo is phone $17 internet optik turbo $24 TV $38
edit: if anyone is wondering if you have all your tv's on at once will it slow down your internet. NO
if you have optik turbo it holds 10mbps for tv and the rest for your internet
I can run 4 tv's on hd all day and the internet is fine

Still loving my Optik TV and Internet. Just did a Speedtest and got 10mbs while recording 2 HD shows, watching a 3rd HD show, kids watching a SD show and iTunes downloading App updates in the background.
Still very happy with my Internet performance compared to Shaw which was all over the place.
