question regarding passing aircare

So the deal is right now Im looking to grab a 1993 lexus sc400 that does not blow out black or blue exhaust fumes but has failed aircare and the thing is I remember a friend of mine telling me a while back that there are tricks mechanics know of to pass aircare regardless of the cars condition. can anybody tell me whether or not this is true? it would definitely help me out.
thanks

don't know if this is of any help. but a ls400 came into the shop couple weeks ago because it failed aircare. i ran a scanner in it and the 02 sensors were faulty. replaced those with universal ones, and it passed with flying colors

I've heard that taking the car on a bit of a highway run helps. Not confirmed though.

depends on what the readings are and where you are failing

i had high NO2

to pass, i had my exhaust piping set up to leak a ton of air and my mechanic retarded the timing where it had no power and an idle of 500rpm or so

my car struggled in 4th to get up to 100km ...positive it was knocking but couldn't hear anything from inside the waiting booth

passed by the smallest of margins

You need to post the readings in order for us to diagnose the issue.

Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

To date, I've failed 7 times with my MR2.

I gave up counting.

I wouldn't buy a car that wasn't Aircared. Why is the person selling the car? Seems funny a car failed Aircare, and then gets put up for sale.

I'd tell the buyer you'll buy it if he gets it to pass Aircare and see what he comes back with. He might have already tried and is facing an expensive bill, which is why the car is getting dumped.

There are lots of tricks to get a car through Aircare, but the "regardless of condition" idea is BS. Some cars will never pass Aircare without spending more than what the car's worth.

I was told you can go to kamloops or squamish and insure and register it without aircare? Is this true?

Sure is. Then when your car gets stolen/in an accident/vandalized in the GVRD and they ask where you live/work and investigate and find out you spend most of your time here, your insurance gets vioded.

Totally forgot, my bad. I mean GVW does include payload + towing capacity. Hell, my Civic can tow another Civic, no problem.

There's also artisan insurance - good all over BC, no Aircare.

I love buyin late model cars that have failed aircare people are so scared of them. Its easy to get a failed car through. Do the maintenance IE the tuneup the previous owners have been to cheap or neglectful to do.
The difference between me and the average consumer is I know how to do it myself. But generally a cat a couple of O2 sensors some spark plugs oil change and an air filter do the trick.

when i bought my old lude, it didnt have aircare , not becuz it failed but just cus the guy didnt want to do it, and my insurance place told him HE has to put aircare on it before he can sell it. Perhaps look into that so that way the guy HAS to do it , so you dont, before you buy it
