Best part about Icq was the ability to resume file transfers later on.

Why did people switch to msn anyway? Especially during that time where there wasn't even a history option for your chats.

Apple: develops iMessage, customers would rather use over 10 year old program

from what i remember, my friends switched to msn because it was preloaded on windows, and obviously, going to download a new program was just too much work.

Also ICQ got too annoying with flashy useless features and bloatware.

Yup, this was it for me. But then MSN got just as bad...

Now ICQ is owned by some Russian spam group, and people are flocking back. Interesting!

What's the point? There's too many of these messaging apps now that are all the same. I use Whatsapp with most of my friends but still...I think that if there was a killer app, we'd move. The resurrection of ICQ doesn't seem to have anything we don't already have elsewhere...so what's the point?

I started using ICQ in grade 7/8 until 2005?. Before that I was on hyper terminal with my friend lol.

This Russian group owns a big chunk of facebook. Must be where all this facebook integration into ICQ came from.

Hehe 11-17-2011 06:14 AM

ICQ basically lost the IM war because of the sale to AOL.

That's why the full version stopped at 2003 and moved to crappy lite. Then MSN just took over.
