Parking lot door dent - Worth ICBC claim?

So I was sitting in my car yesterday at a parking lot waiting for someone. A lady passenger in an older truck (that looks pretty beat up) next to me opens her door and hits my fender. I go out and look. There's a small mark and I proceed to take a picture of the truck's license plate. The lady in the passenger side said she there is no damage. The driver/guy walked over and also says there is no damage. He opened the door to where it touched my car and in the process hit my car again. He pulled out a cell phone and took a pic of the impact spot while yelling at me that there is no damage.

I checked the dent again and it's minor. From a few feet away you don't really notice it. It's one of those: you won't notice it unless I point it out. However if you know it's there you can spot it especially if there is light and you see the reflection.

Is it worth it to go the ICBC route? The damage is minor and I can live with it. But at the same time the people in the truck weren't very nice. The lady had no disregard when opening her door and did not know I was in the car. Yesterday I was quite upset but now I cooled off.

Any suggestions?

I guess it depends on how old the car is. If its a beater I wouldn't bother. But because of there shitty attitude I'd stick it to them.

I would go to ICBC. It might be minor, but it's better than seeing that dent every single day, thinking that you should have done something about it.

Definitely claim it especially since you have evidence. Their insurance will pay for everything. And it might teach those inconsiderate people a lesson too.

I hate arrogant assholes like that. Stick it to em!

crazyazn 11-21-2011 01:18 PM

I would do it just because of their shitty attitude

GLOW 11-21-2011 01:26 PM

if you do nothing they will walk away like :fuckyea: and sleep like a baby not remember who the fuck you are

if you report it to icbc they will be like :bluemad: and tell ICBC they either didn't even hit your car or there is no damage. either way they will remember you and perhaps think about the next time they decide to swing their door open - to give a shit about someone else's car

i know what i'd do. but then again i don't like getting yelled at for no reason when all i did was catch some douche damaging my stuff and not giving a shit about my stuff while walking off like he's in the right.

dlo 11-21-2011 01:30 PM

stick it to em lol hate fucks like that, even if its minor

skylinergtr 11-21-2011 01:31 PM

do it!!!!!!!!!!!

it pissed me off so much when i got a fairly medium sized door ding on my car (which I am anal about the condition of). I wish i could find the person that did it so i could go through ICBC to just prove the point.

I got it taken out with PDR later.

mos_skeeto 11-21-2011 01:35 PM

Point taken. I'm calling ICBC now. Thanks :)

DHP 1 11-21-2011 01:39 PM

do the right thing, report those who are irresponsible.

:fuckyea:

c32 11-21-2011 01:47 PM

claim those fuckers so they don't do it to other people and plus so u can get ur dent fixed.

lowda9 11-21-2011 01:58 PM

Do it! I've been in situation just like this. I use to drive a beater and whenever this guy at work parked next to me he just swings his door out and dings my car everytime. His friends also liked to sit and lean on my car. I get pissed but it was also a pos so I let it slide but he did the same to another dudes new mazda. He denied it and they got in a huge fight. All the guy wanted him to say was sorry but the guy wouldnt even admit to it. What a douche!

I got a new car now and I make sure to park far away from him but now I'm just paranoid that everyone will ding my car lol.

wstce92 11-21-2011 02:41 PM

Normally, regardless of whether I'm driving my beater or not.
If someone dings my door and I'm there; most of the time people are apologetic, and or old/a kid/mother dealing with multiple kids. So I let it be. Dings are going to happen.
But given that they clearly hit your door, and wasn't even apologetic, but actually had the audacity to give you attitude, I'd report to ICBC for sure.

optiblue 11-21-2011 02:49 PM

I would so claim it... even if it's 50/50 it's worth it just to teach them a lesson! I hate how some people think it's okay to touch other cars with theirs.

FerrariEnzo 11-21-2011 02:51 PM

show them whos BOSS:fuckyea:

Szeto 11-21-2011 03:32 PM

not to jack your thread OP but what about if your door got dented but you don't have any information on the vehicle that caused the dent?? Do you guys go through ICBC or just leave it until there are more dents....

jpark 11-21-2011 03:45 PM

lol those guys sound like some hick assholes

Euro7r 11-21-2011 08:22 PM

Report that shit as hit and run, screw them over.

racerman88 11-21-2011 08:37 PM

depends on how big/small it is and depends if it's a nice car/crappy beater that you don't care. Your call basically. Also since you have no info YOU end up paying for the repairs ( someone did a hit n run, all the $ to fix it was going to come out of my pocket :okay: )

VR6GTI 11-22-2011 09:30 AM

I've had this happen twice to me at brentwood mall. Both times i get out and there is a small ding. I pointed it out to both people and they said sorry and i shrugged it off. If they had started yelling at me i would have made a claim, fuck people that damage your car then yell at you.

!Yaminashi 11-22-2011 09:35 AM

Yeah, I probably would claim it even if they were nice about it. Call me an asshole but when people have no consideration for the property of others, you deserve to get the shaft.

How hard is it to take an extra 1/2 second to open your door carefully? This is why I always park far away from everyone. To avoid jackasses like that

sebTeggy 11-22-2011 10:15 AM

You are entitled to have your car in the condition it was initially in. Sometimes someone who is super nice might be worth my 50$-100$, usually not.

In this condition, fuck them. Maybe it will teach them some consideration.

suzuka84 11-23-2011 05:44 PM

you're going to make a claim with ICBC to which they will easily pay back ICBC for the repairs. You think the third party will learn a lesson from being forced to pay back a few dollars?

Man up and live with it. Settle it in person with the third party when the incident first presented itself.
