I wouldn't even line up for deals let alone get into that mess. I'll just pay the extra money...no discount is worth that effort.

NSX 11-26-2011 02:52 AM

What a joke man.
I feel ashamed watching this as a North American.

First world problems....

Not trying to take a shot at you or anything but if I made as much money as you (and I know you're rich as hell) I wouldn't bother lining up for any deals either....

Last time I lined up for a deal was boxing day of last year where I lined up at 5am outside Best Buy to buy a 4 in 1 printer for ~$100. It was packed like in the second video except that the employees didn't let everyone in at once so in the end everyone was all civil. Got the last printer and saved $100. Best feeling ever. It's all about the experience and being able to snag something at an amazing price.

I like how usually boxing day sales are a lot more controled up here. Like you said, only letting in a few people at a time. Way nicer that way.

Unlike London Drugs last year. Waited in line for a couple hours, only to have them rip open the doors when they opened. People who weren't waiting in line and showed up 5min before opening, rushed into the store before most of the people waiting in line. Thankfully I got what I went for, but still. It's just stupid when it's a free for all.

Not trying to be rude, but isn't your time worth any money?? I mean, I feel good when I get a deal but if I worked equally hard to receive that promotion, it's not really a deal then is it? If you're sitting outside early morning in the freezing cold, to get access to a building that has products in it...I mean really, you're putting some effort into it. Not to mention it's the day after Christmas so you must've had some late night Christmas dinner the night before so either you're a trooper and had little to no sleep (again, more agony) or you went to bed early and missed out on some of your Christmas celebrations.

MAJORITY of boxing day specials are available online and days before boxing day even starts. The only people that REALLY cash in on boxing day are those first 10-15 people in line. They'll get access to door crashers which are usually limited, rare sale items. The rest of the people are simply getting deals that will last throughout the weeks. Literally, until January these products last! They're on sale at Boxing Day because they're about to go on Clearance and moving out that invetory fast and cheap is better than waiting on it at regular price!

In the end, to each their own but I don't see the rewarding feeling of running through a store trying to get a product (most of who don't even know what they're looking for.)

It really depends on what you're buying and what kind of deal you're getting. I don't think I've ever gone for TVs or anything like that where each store only had like 10 max.
I've also never lined up overnight. Usually 5am the earliest so my time was definitely worth waking up a few hours early to save $100 on a printer.

Yes, a lot of sales last til January, but some items run out faster than others. For my printer example, that was only available starting on Boxing Day, not before. I believe I also got the last one because another lady came up to the rep while I was paying and the rep said it was the last one. I didn't care to find out if it were true. I only know that if you want a good deal, you better act fast.

For some, it's the experience of saying "I've done that." I sat in a lineup with a buddy for the midnight release of BF3. Sure, we could have simply walked into almost any store a few hours later once they opened up for normal business hours and bought it without the pain of sitting in a line up out in the cold, but it was one of those things we wanted to simply cross off our list of things to do.

I've lined up a couple times in the past for Boxing Day door crashers, once at Future Shop and once at NCIX. Again, it was partially down to the experience. Yes, we were up late drinking the night before and gave ourselves a couple hours to sober up, and yes, we were dead tired, but we wanted to be able to cross off buying a door crasher on Boxing Day off of our bucket lists, no matter how low down on the list it was. lol.

I probably wont do it again unless there's something I really want that's only available in store. Standing and sitting in one spot for hours on end in the snow kinda sucks. :lol

People waiting in line aren't the problem. It's the assholes that think its an all out playground when the doors open that are an issue.

I've lined up for boxing sales before and there's always some assholes that come 30 minutes before the store opens and try to budge into the front of the line. I understand the frustration of standing in the cold for x amount of hours but if you're with a couple friends, it's not a big deal.

Just because the store is having a sale doesn't mean the rules change. All the fighting and childish antics are not an excuse, you've waited a few hours and full of excitement, Big Deal!

All it really takes is one person to start shoving to start the domino effect.

Thank god the morons in the video haven't heard of the internet, or that most of the time you can find the same or comparable sales prices on the internet lol. Keeps the connections quick for button clickers like me :fullofwin:

Half the fun of buying nice things is having the luxury to buy them without worrying about the cost. I'll never understand people who line up to go shopping at the sample sales/boxing day sales.

Imagine if there was a real disaster that happened, it'd be anarchy like that times 10.

No racist but the waffle maker thing -- the demographics of the people there, when cross referenced with their consumption of waffles should show a clear link.

I didnt even look at the videos, but I'm going to say those ppl probably don't cook their own waffles, but go to Waffle House instead.
