Just picked up my SG2 LTE today :). Complete noob with Android phones. Can someone reccommend me a place to get a relatively cheap screen protector and a site to dl roms/apps/root?

xda developers

So this phone has Gorilla Glass.. Is it still necessary to get a screen protector?

!MiKrofT 12-27-2011 12:43 AM

Gorilla Glass only makes it more scratch resistant not impervious. It is still very possible to scratch the screen. It's up to you. I use screen protectors regardless.

Just got this phone as a christmas gift, phone is rooted now.. but I have no idea at all how to flash kernels/roms etc. After downloading rooting, a new program "Superuser" appeared, but for some reason doesn't display anything?

Where do I start??? this is kind of confusing stuff coming from a 3GS as well

It will not. IIRC. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it only carries the Rogers LTE bands. You're better off getting the Telus G2X or equivalent.

Just to let people know, I tried fitting a T989 case on our LTE phone. While the dimensions were correct and it did physically fit, the earphone jack was in a different place, and was completely covered by the case.

Does anyone know anywhere local that has i727 (our LTE phones) cases yet?

VancouverG88 12-29-2011 11:59 AM

Also looking for extra/replacement/different coloured battery covers

SiRV 12-29-2011 04:22 PM

Bell and Rogers should be in theory compatible. Things are gonna get messy once 700mhz spectrum goes to auction. Rogers currently uses aws frequencies for their lte network. Do you know what Bell uses for their lte?

Gh0stRider 01-05-2012 07:02 PM

i think its the same as rogers

Hey guys, I am looking to buy a spare battery for my s2 lte. Does anyone know if the battery in my phone is the same as other iterations of the s2 (eg. T989, original s2,, etc) ? And does anyone know where I might be able to find one locally? thanks!

Reading is quite the useful tool vitaminG. Unless you were interested in the info about the battery variations or local batteries.

Psykopathik 01-17-2012 07:45 AM

shit i have like 4 extra batteries from eBay and they are all overrated in mAh. not one lasts as long as my OEM Samsung battery. however they cost $5, not $50 so you get what you pay for. i use them as emergency power when i don't have time to get a decent recharge.

no one will sell these knockoff batts locally because they are crap, and customers will come back constantly demanding their $ back. on eBay, you bought it, final sale, cry all you want, no refunds.

if you want a GOOD battery, get a Mugen or OEM. You can even shoehorn a Galaxy Nexus battery in there if you try hard enough.

phone covers or BATTERY covers? either way eBay is your best bet.

Razor Ramon HG 01-18-2012 09:17 PM

Just wondering, but is the LTE worth the extra money from the S2?

Was going to pick up a S2 tomorrow, but if I'm switching phones, is it worth picking up the LTE instead?
