If our basic rate application with the BCUC is approved, I can tell you that, combined with a reduction in our optional rates, the majority of our customers – those who purchase their full personal vehicle insurance coverage with ICBC – will see an average increase of less than $30 a year.
Fuckin' whiners.

umpadupa 11-29-2011 10:55 PM

LOL its only gonna be average of $30 on BASIC premium....

ur coll and comp will go down because ur car is getting older, should offset it.

Still pretty stupid though....

This is exactly why. Ontario premiums are soaring cause of this, so thank god we have public insurance that limits the claims unlike private.

I think ICBC needs to go further in limiting the claims. There's lots of people rushing to specialists for minor accidents, when really they just need a couple days to heal.

^ because its pretty much the only way to even think about buying a house nowadays,

im still fuckin waiting for some c-lai to rear end me, so I can cash in, so many of my friends are making bank off injury claims

melloman 11-30-2011 08:08 AM

^^ really.. Makes me want to get my fucking monies worth sometimes.. I pay out the ass for insurance now with the Audi... and I'll never see a dime back because I'm not a moron on the road. =|

Bert Stahre 11-30-2011 08:39 AM

Remember last year it was -2.5% in basic rates? Now they'll probably increase 5% so they make a net gain of another 2.5% ... cheeky k**nts

|<e|_ 11-30-2011 08:42 AM

i rear ended a lady recently....no dmg on my bumper and a tiny scratch on hers...wanted to privately settle but she claims her back is in pain...

|<e|_ 11-30-2011 08:42 AM

We have had several rate reductions and although the rates are not always cheaper than private, in MANY segments such as young people in high performance cars, the rates are absolutely tons cheaper than a comparable person in Alberta or Ontario would pay. I dont want to pay more but I can appreciate the reality of what they are saying in the letter, it's all accurate and very easily verified... I dont hate ICBC for having to raise their rates once in awhile, it's no different than rent, gas, or any other good or service - inflation and changing market conditions are just reality.

They claim basic insurance is losing money but optional is profitable. So the idea is I guess increase basic to a point where it becomes revenue neutral (since they are a govnt. corp, they are supposed to be rev neutral) and lower optional to take away a bit of the profit.

I've talked at length with my dad about rates and how they decide things and it's a lot more complicated than you think. FYI my dad has worked at ICBC in head office for over 30 years.

your "friends" are the reason the rates are being increased. dumbshit.

falcon 11-30-2011 08:56 AM

Oh, and all of those of you who have "performance" cars and are newish drivers (under 10 years) or even have your N... go do a insurance quote for ontario or AB and see how it goes. The grass is always greener on the other side... until you get there and the other side is back where you came from.

Any vehicle for that matter. My brother was quoted $3-5K/yr for his Suzuki GS500 in Ontario for his first year of riding. I was quoted $1200-1800/yr for my Suzuki SV650 in BC for my first year of riding.

ICBC rewards new and bad drivers while punishing good and experienced drivers. Considering the demographics of this forum, most don't have anything to complain about.

fail me all you want,

the fact is EVERYONE does it,

even 100 dollar damage, people will claim injury.

when someone hits you, you either have the choice of

a) claim injury and possibly get 10k+

b) do nothing

hmmmm....

I agree if everyone was a good samaritan then this wouldnt be a problem,

but the fact is, human beings are greedy fucks, and everyone is always looking to screw over their neighbor if it advances their own life,

that is the world we live in, materialistic posessions and money is all that matters, and people will get it any way they can.

so when you get hit one day, your saying your not going to claim injury if your not hurt?

well good on you I guess, rates will still increase, and so will injury claims, with or without you.

may aswell claim it

s300ae 11-30-2011 10:21 AM

^^ I got hit. Hard enough to write off the car. The other party deemed 100% their fault.
I'm not claiming injury because I am not injured.

ICBC will basically tell her to fuck off with the injury claim.Nowadays the car has to have a certain amount of damage done to it for the driver or passengers to claim injuries.

If she gets caught for faking the back injury(which more than likely this dumb cunt will),she will get charged for fraud and will be on ICBC's black list for the rest of her life(being on that list is the worst thing possible for a person who drives or rides in vehicles).

ICBC has zero tolerance for fraudulent claims, they will punish scammers to the fullest extent.
