I fixed it myself. just ebay the parts. I think i searched for xbox RROD and the part should be a couple of dollars.
Fixed 2 xbox360s, 1 is still working, the other one RROD on me again.

go buy a Torx 8 screwdriver, torx 10 screwdriver, and some decent thermal paste, as well as a heat gun and some tin foil. then DIY.

there are no parts to replace, aside from the thermal compound.

mahn i sent you the youtube links lol

i spent like 30 $$ buying the materials locally, me and a friend fixed in 2 hours

thermal paste and screwdriver were the most expensive

Vansterdam 12-01-2011 06:27 AM

lol i know saw the videos and said fuck it to much work

30$ DIY but it could fuck up again

for 60$ i can get someone to do it for me + 6 months warranty in case it rrod again not bad of a deal

hoping to get back on the box this weekend!

asian_XL 12-01-2011 06:28 AM

seriously, don't bother fixing it.

I fixed my fat xbox360 for like 3 times, RROD came back every year. Did towel trick, toothpick trick, new heatsink, new heat paste, new x clamp. I end up paying more than buying a brand new one, RROD still slapped me in my face, that's why I bought the slim, nothing wrong so far.

What happened to my fattie? the fat xbxo360 was kept in my room in pieces for over 2 years. In August, I looked up Taobao (chinese ebay), found someone who would BGA CPU and GPU for $25, I gave that a try. The guy told me the solder balls under my CPU were cracked, he reballed everything for me, now I have 2 xbox (one for backups, one for xbox live)

Vansterdam 12-01-2011 06:31 AM

is there a way to fit the harddrive from a fat xbox 360 to a slim 360?

without having to use a transfer data cable + buy a new slim HD

30$ the first time then free the next time cuz you have the stuff already

and if it fucks up once a year then its ok if i spend at most 10 $ for more paste and use up 2 hours of my time on a lazy sunday

I bought an rrod xbox once just to try it out. Threw it in the oven, and 20mins later, and it's running again.

rubencruz 12-01-2011 03:27 PM

fitted my old 20gb without any case into the slim 4g. Google it, they are everywhere. Nothing wrong so far, except I have two storage devices, maybe I'll take the 4g chip off the board

RevYouUp 12-01-2011 05:15 PM

lol old ass xboxes have 100% failure rate :( My friends and I all got the RROD

CorneringArtist 12-01-2011 05:23 PM

I tried to RROD my old 360 on purpose because it would freeze as soon as a game booted LOL. Tried everything to do it, including overheating the fuck out of it then throwing it in the freezer..

underscore 12-01-2011 06:50 PM

Towel trick is for retards, all that does is fix your real issue for about 5 minutes, and cook the shit out of everything else so now it'll get a real issue that can't be fixed, sooner.

$30 in tools and I fixed enough 360's in a couple months just in my spare time, to buy a PS3 + 24" 1080p LCD (this was in Uni).

The real fix is to get the eror code and see what it applies to, if it's a GPU error take it apart, clean off the old paste, bend the clamps so they apply slightly more pressure, heatgun the board PROPERLY, reassembly with the correct amount of cheap thermal paste (seriously, the cheapest shit you could buy is better than what MS uses). reassemble and done.

rubencruz 12-01-2011 07:00 PM

Underscore , want to fix mine LOL ?
