A woman in north China's Shanxi Province was stabbed 28 times and died on the pavement. A security camera recorded the entire incident but no passers-by came forth to help the woman.
Police of Huairen County said the suspect Li Ruiqiang, 24, confessed that he saw the victim surnamed Xu, 28, walking on the street on the morning of November 30 and accosted her for sex but was rejected.
Li went berserk and stabbed Xu with a knife 28 times and kicked her 16 times. His gruesome act was caught on a surveillance video footage.
Li was apprehended on the spot a few minutes later, but Xu died of her wounds before reaching the hospital, the police said.
The video also showed that there were several people there when Li attacked Xu, but no one made any move to stop him.
There were speculations online that Li and Xu were couple in a quarrel, but police clarified that Li and Xu were complete strangers.
Only way I could see myself trying to stop the guy with the knife.. would be to pick up that pink bike and throw it at him.. I'm not about to run up to a pissed off guy with a knife and get myself stabbed..

Wow, I couldn't even finish watching the whole video...
But, that's pretty fucked up. Honestly, if I didn't have a weapon handy, I don't know if I would do anything different other than call the cops.
Would any of you jump in, unarmed and try to subdue the attacker?
To be honest, I would, if there is a useful object laying down on the ground. But with my useless hands that cannot fight against a knife. I would call cops or ask the bystanders to help.

its the old chinese mentality " don't get involved " that prevents those people from helping out. If its not any of their business and that theres a chance where they can get hurt, they stay the fuck away.

Yes, and we had this exact discussion recently.
The general tone of the prior thread went something like this: the people who would attempt to defend the victim think the people who would just stand and watch are cowards for not intervening, the people who would not intervene think those who would have a death wish and doubt they would do it in person.
