Golds Gym Controversy - Inflated Credentials for their trainers

Saw this on facebook.
Apparently Gold's gym tells it's employees to hype up their credentials to make them seem more credible...

ie. Personal trainer who says they are actually a Kinesiologist with a degree, but do not have said degree.

Excelsis 12-08-2011 05:10 PM

ya but who needs personal trainers anyway?

:fuckthatshit:

twitchyzero 12-08-2011 05:13 PM

Culture_Vulture 12-08-2011 05:30 PM

:lol see all the big guys out there that never hired a trainer?

I knew a licensed personal trainer once, he doesn't know jack shit about nutrition, kinesiology, and all of the other bullshit personal trainers claim they're so knowledgeable at. All he knew was work hard & eat right, and scam the stupid suckers $350 every month telling them how to do just that.

SkinnyPupp 12-08-2011 05:33 PM

Not that there aren't good trainers out there. Many of these big guys would be nowhere without Rippetoe telling them how it's done.

ShadowBun 12-08-2011 05:48 PM

im nub
so who is this 'Rippetoe'

SkinnyPupp 12-08-2011 05:50 PM

LOL! I used to work in the Richmond location, worked there for like 4 months in which the place went through 4 managers. Unethical is a perfect way to describe this place, Victor always put so much pressure on all the staff, even the cleaning lady got shit.

wstce92 12-08-2011 06:16 PM

lol, totally thought he said the owner's name was Nguyen, was surprised to see Newman

It is not just Golds, most personal trainers at gym chains are not very well qualified. The well qualified ones usually run their own gym/studio so they can make more than the peanuts the gym pays.

salesman lying to sell their product is nothing new...
You don't need employers to instruct them to lie either, common ends justify the means attitude
