| Wireless Range Extender
Hi,
I just moved into a new townhouse complex and it seems like my DIR-655 cannot extend its range from our second level bedroom in the rear of the house to the front main level living area. My PS3 connectivity shows only 40-50% and my ipad just completely loses the signal as soon as I go into the living area. The option of moving the wireless antenna and router is not there as there is no mid area where there is a cable jack to plug in the router.
I came across this product and was wondering if anyone has ever tried it. http://www.dlink.ca/products/?pid=DAP-1360
I also tried looking for any setup videos but came up with nothing.
Thanks for any insight.

It's okay, certainly better than D-Link's last attempt, but don't expect miracles as it seems like your signal strength issue is likely due to interference on the 2.4 GHz band.
I personally run a DIR-655 and my neighbour 2 houses away can pick it up at 50-70% on the opposite side of her house. I just installed another DIR-655 into my parents' new 3-floor, 4500 sq. ft. house (w/ 3/4" hardwood floors) and, again, they get great reception everywhere in their house except one corner in the master bedroom (drops to 20-40% in that one corner).
Both locations are in far less population-dense areas than anywhere in Greater Vancouver and radio interference is far lower. When I lived in Burnaby in a condo using the same router, I would sometimes drop under 50% 2 rooms away (and this was a 740 sq. ft. condo, so pretty small).
Going to a simultaneous dual-band router would likely help you w/ the iPad, but your PS3 will only operate on 2.4 GHz.

you could always use one of those powerline adapters to have the option of plugging your wireless router anywhere you like in the house. my room have terrible wireless reception.. so i just use the 4 port powerline thing from linksys to connect my ps3 and computer. no worries about dropping connection. so you could get a single port one and connect ur wireless router to it in a better location in your house.

Okay here's an update. I bought the wifi extender and it did its job of extending the wife signal. The downside was that the data rate was cut by 50%. Meaning that if you got 100mbs connection it would be down to 50mbs. It also caused havoc with my PS3 not being able to see my media server on my main computer.
In the end I returned the product and got myself the brand new DLINK DIR-655. I had the dual band version with only the two antennas and the new one isn't dual band but it has three antennas and solved my wifi coverage issues.

DIR 655 has always had 3 antennas and is singleband.
It sounds like you had a different model before.
