shenmecar 12-21-2011 02:13 PM

Silly Albertans, thats not how you go 4x4-ing.

unkicrackie 12-21-2011 02:21 PM

The test drive route wasn't very long either, according to Google Maps it was 2 minutes.

Subaru Calgary to 28 St NE - Google Maps

Santofu 12-21-2011 02:24 PM

kevin7352 12-21-2011 02:53 PM

I love life.

I'm assuming STi's come stock with summer tires. Do dealerships let ppl test drive cars with summer tires when there's snow on the road?

n3w8ie-aler 12-21-2011 04:22 PM

those look like winter tires. Subaru's normally won't let people test drive STI anyways. The two dealership i been to said NO to me

Grim 12-21-2011 05:01 PM

so.... if that happens...
does the guy whose test driving it, have to pay? :/
how does this work?

You bet, one of the salesperson at Subaru Calgary started a thread on WSC.

It's a bad day when the Test Drive ends like this...

It's all in how you carry yourself and what you drive in to a dealership. Also, doesn't hurt to bring a pay stub with you.

I test drove an STI in kelowna, salesman even let me go alone with my friend and gf. Things are different up there, most dealerships let you drive almost any car you want :bigthumb:

IMASA 12-21-2011 06:04 PM

From that Calgary thread

« Reply #38 on: December 19, 2011, 11:37:50 PM »This is Drew Bell from Subaru Calgary, soon to be ex-sales associate. But no not because I was driving or riding in this car! My last day is the 23rd which means I'll finally have more time to be on the forums!

This is the unfortunate result of a 3 days new on the job associate agreeing to go on a test drive in the 09 STI without checking with management. Yes those are summer tires, and unfortunately they chose the slipperiest corner in our area to approach at 50 k...

Everyone was ok except for the scooby, which impressively is not leaking any fluids. No sure at this point what repairs are necessary or if it's a write off. Big question was how to get it off the rock... I will try to updat as I know more. Those who were interested in this car, I get you best price!!! (but in all seriousness this will be on the carproof, and if it is repaired it will be fully repaired and recertified through insurance)

So next time you take a test drive and someone says sign here for the deductible, let me see your licence, and I'm driving first to show you how the car handles you'll all realize why!

I probably shouldn't have posted these... But could not resist!

iamed 12-21-2011 09:21 PM

its a used STI, they usually let you test drive used cars without much problem

This.

If you show up in your kitted out 240 with a fart can wearing ripped jeans and a beater chances are you're not getting a ride

Show up in your rents boring car, wearing at least decent clothes and dont act like a douche it's a different story.

gwh0803 12-22-2011 03:54 PM

I loled, then I :'(

originalhypa 12-23-2011 08:51 AM

Pffft, that'll buff out.
Subarus are tanks. When they do break, it's usually 8 bolts to put a new part on and they're good as new.

Vancouver240sx 12-23-2011 09:48 AM

I owned an 09 STI and the 1st time I drove it was off the lot. Even with a deposit down and a salesman in the car they wouldn't let me take it out.

Never doing that again, what a boring car.

Boring? Guess I'm scratching that car off my to-drive / to-own list.

n3w8ie-aler 12-23-2011 04:32 PM

Ya absolutely. I drove a newer version at track a while ago, it was better, but I believe it had quite a bit of suspension work done to it.

It is what it is, a family mover with a mother fucker engine. The brakes are good for a giggle but the rest of the car is mundane. You get over the speed quickly.

However, I'm not most consumers, my preference leans towards a precise, agile, fun ride than a lopey people mover.

ps it ate gas like it secretly bathed in it over night.
