Shipping and Tax on Used Items

Tried to search around for this topic but couldn't find the answer. I'm thinking of buying a used camera on ebay. The buyer is from the US and will be shipping through USPS. If the buyer clearly marks the item as a "used camera", will it still be fair game to be taxed?

Yes.

New or used merchandise/goods are taxable.

You don't always get taxed or have to pay fees upon arrival

Just ask him to mark the package as a gift with a value of $40

Yes, anything of monetary value needs to be declared. With that said, it is up to the CBSA agent's discretion whether to charge you duty/taxes for the item.
