Out of curiosity what kind of power can be made out of these 3.0 Turbo motors? Are they easy to modify? Cheap to make power? Are they similar to Turbo Supra motors?

E46 M3 is naturally aspirated...

congrats on your E46 M3 Vert. If you are driving year round, I would suggest getting the hard top. It looks awesome on the E46.

Nice looking car! What are the details on it? I see blacked out grills which I think look awesome on a TiAg car, looks like an earlier car but can't really see the taillights that clearly...

TiAg?

Its a 2003.5, 6spd manual, 110K kms. Black interior with grey trim and heated seats. 18" wheels, brand new rubber. Inspection 2 recently done at Nixon and all service records from Nixon.

I got it for a deal cause it has a long claims history. Parked in gas town so 5 incidents of vandalism or parking lot damage. Soft top was replaced last year due to vandalism. Also one recent accident, hit a grizzly bear (yes you read that right) so the front bumper, headlight, and fender was replaced. The front end is freshly painted, you cannot tell its been in an accident.

The only issue with it is a sticking Vanos solenoid which triggers the CEL if driven hard. Its noted in the last 2 service records from Nixon. Nixon was clearing the code and monitoring it, cause its only throwing the code a handful of times between service. He knocked the price down the cost of a new solenoid, so I'll replace it when it becomes a problem. Its a 30 min DIY to replace.

Would love to have the hard top, yet with a condo its not practical. :( I'll get to see later this week what the soft top is like in the rain.

ICBC was cheaper than private, surprisingly, cause I'm not a roadstar (43%) yet.

Found out my 8 years doesn't kick in for a few months, so still 35% discount. :(

It felt so good to finally hit 40% after working it off for years after crashing my car into a 4x4, and after cancelling insurance and realizing it switched me from accruing 10% a year to 5% a year.

By the way...nice car! I like that body style of BMW. Manage to sell the old one yet?

Thanks!

I've had some interesting offers so far. The latest was trade for a mini van plus cash... yet I don't need a mini van. LOL

I'm surprised that in 2 days I've had 8 people interested, I did not expect that.

taylor192 02-08-2012 08:56 AM

Thanks all!

Now lets talk mods. There's a couple things I want to do to start:
- disable auto lock when driving
- have the first unlock key press unlock both doors, not just the drivers door
- disable the interior lights from turning on when the car is unlocked or door opened
- replace the dull yellow DRLs
- angel eyes
- paint the side markers

Are there any other little things that can be done to improve its use daily?

originalhypa 02-08-2012 08:59 AM

congrats Taylor, that's a sweet car!

Some people appreciate it, I don't. I find it like turning on the bright bathroom lights first thing in the morning - thus my bathroom has a dimmer which I crank down before taking my morning dump. :D

No PM needed.

$19.5K, he was asking $20K yet I had him knock off $500 since I may have to buy a new intake Vanos solenoid. They cost $500 online and I can DIY.

ICBC asked why it was $4K less than market value, its cause of the claims history.

Congrats on yours too, have you posted pics? What's he parting out?

The weather is supposed to be nice Sat. I'd love to see more e46 M3s to compare if I got a good deal and listen to the engine to make sure they all sound the same.

Have you watched youtube vids on the Vanos bolt issue? Holy crap the engine sounds bad, you'd definitely know you have issues.
