dont think surefire has SOS, but they have dual output and single output |
I'm a huge fan of headlamps myself. I find them much more useful than a regular flashlight. the whole handsfree aspect makes a big difference. |
I own a few flashlights myself. Can't go wrong with fenix, streamlight or surefire for good quality brands. I have a few fenix ones and they are definitely worth the money. Surefire is good but are more expensive. For self defense and what not you want one that is going to work no matter what. Also have streamlight and surefire weapon lights. Haven't failed once. Wow, that Fenix TK35 is amazing. I saw a 20 million candle power flashlight at Costco last week for $49, but it's pretty bulky. |

I need a mini light for work. Where do i go locally to get Fenix or Surefire? |
So, which one is better? I'm not sure which is better as all of them have very similar specs. 4Sevens Quark AA R5 Fenix PD20 Olight T15T R5 Olight T10T R5 |
What kind of batteries do you prefer using? I prefer AA lights since it is easier to obtain and you can get eneloop rechargeables. |
No specific preference. I can use the Recheargeable AA or the rechargeable CR123A alternative. I just want to know which one has the slight advantage. These manufacturers make these flashlights so similar. |
I'm pretty happy with my Zebralight H51. |
Dang, just did a little bit more research. Alot of the Fenix and Surefires isn't great with rechargeable CR123a. WTF man. lol If they are used they can only be used on the MAX setting or something. Lame. |
:okay: no one wants to answer. Found a ghetto version at Crappy tire lol. Garrison LED Rechargable Flashlight | Canadian Tire |
i just buy a box of surefire cr123 batteries. |

two of those lights are in the 180-200 lumen range and two are in the 100-120 lumen range. that should narrow out two of the lights. secondly, look at the run times. i didnt compare for you, but ,not necessarily on 'turbo' mode but more on high mode, if ones good for double the run time, it would be a better choice. |
on the topic of Lumens. generally the rule of thumb is, given the same beam patterns, if you hold two lights side by side, you need minimum 10% more lumens for your eye to notice one as slightly brighter than the other. if you're holding them up one at a time, you need 20% more lumens to notice that one is noticeably brighter than the other. and for a light to appear twice as bright, it needs THREE times as much lumens. again, this is given the same beam patterns. |
Does anyone have experience with HID flashlights? How do they compare to the LED flashlights? I see a lot of HID flashlights go up to 3000+ lumens! That's pretty much around what factory HID headlights are at aren't they? And is Xenon different than HID? Tried to google it and it's sorta different everywhere I go... Thanks! |
Anybody know where to buy Fenix or Surefire mini flashlights locally??? |
Google (by way of CPF) gave me this place for Surefire: Home - Europe Bound and here for Fenix and Surefire (and some other brands like Streamlight: https://dstactical.com/index.php You may want to call them first to see if they stock any of these though...might be special order items. |
i get my surefire stuff at ds tactical in new west. |
