Does anyone have experience with HID flashlights? How do they compare to the LED flashlights? I see a lot of HID flashlights go up to 3000+ lumens! That's pretty much around what factory HID headlights are at aren't they? And is Xenon different than HID? Tried to google it and it's sorta different everywhere I go... Thanks!

HID only useful for showing off. takes too long to achieve full brightness. eats power like a mofo. also too damn bright to use, no dimming ability.

I had one. useless.

Okay I bit the bullet and bought a 4Sevens Quark AA-2 R5. I know it isn't the "X" model but it's good enough. The X model would be nice at 280 but it's like $15 more. Don't feel like spending the extra at the moment.

Anyway, slight off-topic. Warriors and wonders will be closing their retail store front in about 2 months. They will still continue to operate through their webstore and will have a Pickup option/office when they close their retail store. Something about the market being too competitive and they are just exhausted. Had a decent time dealing with them today with my purchase.

Found something extremely retarded lol.

Bringing up an old thread, but

warriorsandwonders is having a clearance on their surefire flashlights, picked up a g2x for good price (since they are already so damn expensive lol)

Going Gear - Going Gear - Smyrna, Georgia is US based, but type in sootch00 for 10% discount
la police gear also has brand named flashlights for sale, type in Tac1 for 10% off.

After reading this thread last year, I unfortunately became a flashaholic :lol

Nice price! Just an FYI though, that's the older model. The newer G2X's are 320/15 lumens. I just picked up one of the newer models of the G2X for $70 on eBay not too long ago.

price and where at?

I buy all my stuff from 911Supply.ca - Supplier of all Emergency Services - Home

But as mentioned, DS Tactical also carries the batteries. Buying a box is definitely the economical way to go. A pack of 2 CR123 at London Drugs is $18-$22 where as a box of 12 from 911supply or similar is around $32-$35.

godwin 01-05-2013 03:07 PM

CR123 is originally designed to be a lithium battery.. of course rechargeable NiMH will never get to the same preformance.

Dang, just did a little bit more research. Alot of the Fenix and Surefires isn't great with rechargeable CR123a. WTF man. lol If they are used they can only be used on the MAX setting or something. Lame.

Costco has a $15 3-pack of 200 lumen led flash lights complete with batteries. The quality is not bad. Some of my older 150 lumen lights from costco died after being rough with them in construction work. I should have kept the packaging and receipts. Good for the money though.

J-Chow 01-05-2013 04:14 PM

+1 for costcos 3 pack flashlights. If you ain't picky about quality, fit and finish, give them a try. But once you purchase your first pricey flashlight, you can easily tell the differences. Gotta pay to play lol.

Cr123s are relatively expensive locally. A pack of 12 surefire cr123s go for $29.99. Preferably, I'd go with deal extremes cr123s, and/or 18650 batteries which you can rarely find.

Mackoutdoors is also another local dealer in Abby that sells decent flashies as well.

Same here. I use it at work all the time as a hammer too. I really want to get a surefire hellfire with 2300 lumens but I dont have the 2g to get one.
And for the cree lights, they are bright but they are built like shit. Had 2 of them bought off amazon for cheap. Both of them were rechareable and pretty bright, but they both broke after a few weeks of use.

I've been using my Streamlight jr led for work for years. Super durable and pretty heavy duty. I bought it from a snap on truck on sale for $50 so half off. Also the snap on guy said its lifetime warranty. Its never broke on me the last 3 years. I take it everywhere I go, seriously. Lol

How big is that stream light? It looks like a mini mag but I can't tell the real size. Picture makes it look bigger than actual size lol

It's about the length of an average pen and probably 3/4 of inch thick.

Ulic Qel-Droma 01-08-2013 02:09 AM

the best flashlights are those jerk off self powered ones.

emergencies=/=batteries.

blkgsr 01-08-2013 08:00 AM

4Sevens Quark...i have one, not sure of model but it's awesome...got another one for christmas too

impactX 01-13-2013 05:36 AM

Just ordered a Fenix TK35 with the new U2 bulb... tempted to get the TK22 as well.

Recon604 01-13-2013 07:05 AM

i have the fenix tk41. So bright LOL Fenix Flashlights TK41 LED Flashlight

its awesome

impactX 01-13-2013 03:01 PM

^ was looking at that as well but I prefer the buttons being placed at the end of the tube.

It's probably a matter of time before these manufacturers use the U3 bulbs (even brighter at the same current).

Gunsmokez 01-13-2013 03:03 PM

NVM found it

Ordered the Fenix TK 35 + 2 3400 mAH re-chargeable and charger.

J-Chow 01-13-2013 05:52 PM

If you get a chance,

take a look at Klarus. I picked this up last year, it's still my emergency / self defense flashlight. Bought the diffuser and aggressive strike bezel with it :)

XT11-
600 lumens

Also ordered a Nitecore MT26 with max 800 lumens.

Going Gear - NiteCore Multi Task Series MT26 800 Lumen 2 x CR123 / 1 x 18650 CREE XM-L U2 LED Flashlight - Flashlights - Flashlights
