| New: Intel O/C Warranty
Thought this should deserve its own thread, as it's a very interesting idea for hardcore overclockers.
Intel just came up with a new warranty, prices ranging from $20-35 depending on your CPU, for X or K versions of their processors. Must be purchased within a year of your purchase of the processor, and goes on for the original 3 year period of the processors's limited warranty. If you burn out your chip from overclocking, they'll give you a single free replacement.
I might go for it, might not be a bad idea for a i5-2500k running at 4500GHz =D Tuning Plan |

i think its kind of a money grab in a way.
most people who overclock do so moderately.
my 2500k is at 4.5ghz also and its pretty rare that a cpu burns out in less than 3 years unless you are really pushing its limits imo.
if you've got it over 5ghz with high voltage then perhaps.

my 2600k is at 5ghz, but im on water as well and temps never go above 35c,
I probably wont bother with the warranty, the processor stays down at 1 ghz unless im gaming anyway

If you're overclocking, I can think of much better ways to spend that $30. If you have enough money that it doesn't make a different in terms of upgrades in other areas, well, you probably upgrade your CPU more than every 3 years, anyways.
If you're getting the Extreme, then yeah, $35 is peanuts compared to the processor cost and if you're going to be pushing really, really hard, it makes some sense, but it's still more piece of mind, IMO, than actual benefit.
I've overclocked every processor I've ever owned and many others for friends/relatives and the last one I torched was a Pentium II back in the '90s ...

Yeah..Money grab. If you're able to burn out a CPU overclocking then you shouldn't be messing with it in the first place.
Same with me. Have never burned an overclocked CPU.

This is so obvious its for those extreme overclocking players.
For those who modified voltage, and on LN2.
My buddy in Taiwan burnt couple CPUs, but mostly are free from Sponsor. He doesn't really care.

Haha, like I said: for hardcore overclockers. I want to push mine higher, but it's on a budget cooler, albeit a good one. Looking for a better cooler, it's starting to look like water's the only choice though.
