PS3 Game recommendation?
 

Hey, I've gotten sucked back into RPGs on the PS3 and now that Skyrim is done devouring weeks of my life am looking for something else to play.

Preferably long, RPG like, I loathe FPS perspective so it needs at least the option of over the shoulder, and preferably either open world or with an interesting story if I can't just go make my own.

Suggestions?

You can try the demo now on psn. The demo is alpha build so there is couple bugs on that.

I've been playing Dark Souls like a madman lately, and I even got my roommate hooked... It's over the shoulder, slower paced and minimalistic in story, but it's just so well made; it brings the challenge back to this generation of gaming.

final fantasy 13-2 is coming out in a week if u want to preorder or wait.

Uncharted 1-3

Sure it's not an RPG, the game isn't all that long but it's still an amazing game with an awesome story. Uncharted 3 I believe got 10 out of 10 on IGN as well and they rarely give that score out. It's also not first person.

Maybe invest in 1-2 first you can buy the dual pack for cheap.

Little Big Planet all be it also not a RPG is quite a sweet game. Think of it as PS3's version of Mario but better and weirder?

White Knight Chronicles (havent played it but it looks sweet ratings are meh)

Valkyria Chronicles (havent played looks great rated superbly)

Demons Souls (quite popular)



saboteur its more a GTA type game but its long, great story, open world

same as Infamous, Batman Arkham ....

ive beaten valkyria. its a great game but not for everyone.
if you loved games like ff tactics you'll prob love it as well.
good story and graphics too.

skyrim / uncharted 2-3 / darksouls / batman arkham city /gt 5/nhl 12/ nba 2k11 or 2k12 / metal gear solid 4 / mass effect 2 ..........and ur pick of mw3 or BF3 ... that will keep you busy for half a year.

If you liked Skyrim the next closest thing would be Fallout 3

mass effect 2 if you haven't tried it yet on pc or xbox
fallout 3 or fallout new vegas is also good.

if ur into old school zelda type game u can try 3d dot heroes

Dragon Age Origins

cant believe nobody mentioned that yet! da origins and awakening

Batman Arkham City was fun to kill a couple days, yet little replay value.

i was never a castlevania fan growing up but that was an awesome trailer. it made me want to just watch someone play it lol
and captain picard's in it!

i dont know about anyone else but i enjoyed the ninja gaiden sigma series. part2 was quite fun. i found the first one too frustrating

I'm a big hack n slash/beat em up fan. Ninja Gaiden sigma was great, sigma 2 was too easy. I'm waiting on the new devil may cry and ninja gaiden coming out sometime this year :)

FF7 is the reason I'm a gamer to begin with (that and ChronoCross). Does that date me? :P

I have Dragon Age Orgins - Loved it. I heard awakenings wasn't nearly as good though?

I've been looking at Fallout 3 and I have Mass Effect 1 but I found it a bit liner (though I liked it) is ME2 more open?

I have heard great things about Uncharted 3, apparently it's best on playstation?

My daughter has 3D Dot Heroes, maybe I'll give that a try!

Awakenings isn't as good, but you can find it cheap so why not?
DA 2 sucks though.

and yeah its one of the best series exclusive to the ps3 but its no rpg

never played mass effect 1 but 2 is supposed to be less traditional RPG and closer to TPS (third person shooter). I wouldn't say it's linear because there's just so many different ways to play the game (your class...your responses...your upgrades)

it's been acclaimed as one of the best game of the current generation so definitely give it a go....i'm actually still half way through it and it's supposed to be a short RPG <50 hours

i thought 2 was more polished and mainstream where 1 was more for serious gamers. i found myself quitting 1 a quarter of the way through and finishing 2 first. by then i was able to get used to the controls better and then was able to finish 1. i am on the fence with 3 since they are trying to make it more realistic setting parts of it in the middle east fighting mostly humans and steering away from th fantasy aspect. online play should have been in 2. glad it will be in 3
