That's actually a smart thing to do - unless the person who caused the accident is a habitual liar, they will be honest at the time of the accident.

But once they have a few days to think about it, after talking to other like-minded people, they'll have enough time to change their story and pin the fault on you.

Edit: I had someone back into me, admit it at the scene of the accident, but later on, tell ICBC that I had rear ended them. :flamemad:

Ya - I just got him to write a simple note,

I, ___insert name____, backed into ___insert my own name___ on Jan xx, 20xx in the parking lot/street/lane.

Signature


and I matched the signature to his DL.

If he/she actually refused to write that note though, I don't know what I could've done... I'm not a big guy, so physical intimidation is out of the question. Calling the police wouldn't help because they'd leave before the police got there... haha.

^ I would have called the police anyway. Chances are, he wouldn't take off if you have his info already.
If he leaves before the police arrive... something fishy :suspicious:
