If anyone wants some incredible deals on roses send me a message. I can get you a dozen red roses for 20$.

EDIT: price changed because I had to buy higher quality roses. imo still a hell of a deal. I seen 10$ for one stem the other day.

Fresh? Interesting proposal you have here.

rexsomnii 02-06-2014 11:46 PM

pm'd

would like to know if they're fresh as well

rageguy 02-07-2014 12:17 AM

Not trying to shit on you, but I've tried countless "deals" through RS (not naming names) or friends or coupons. The flowers are always old and dying. The edges on the red rose are turning dark and hardening. They just don't look lively. I went to a higher end floral shop in Kerrisdale (no names again) and while the price is triple if not quadruple, the quality was there.

Everymans 02-09-2014 08:51 PM

Quality is top notch california/columbian roses. Non of that whole foods free trade crap. I'll let people know my stock come thursday. Trucks are late etc.

Anyone used Vin's Roses or whatever last year near E. 29 station? Do they remember the pricing?

metroflower seems decent. My ex loves the flowers from there. Always fresh and smells great even after a week.

Too bad I will be alone this year >< and Feb 14 is on friday too..... is going to feel weird for sure.

most likely they're almost dead flowers.

my moms a florist and when she buys a dozen roses/long stems, they're well over 15$ hell she wont even sell them to me that cheap or else she'd be losing money.

usually the flowers you find at safeway etc are the flowers that nobody else will take because they're on their way to the dead zone and will start browning and wilting within days...so, grocery stores can buy em for next to nothing and have some random person throw a few other flowers in and try to make it look pretty lol.

From what I gather, regular, short-stem roses retail for around $20, but long-stem roses from Ecuador or South America retail for $50+ during Valentines Day.

Lomac 02-10-2014 11:43 PM

Roses on Valentines. :fuckthatshit: Too damn overpriced and super cliche. I tend to go for something a little less traditional... cala lilies, tulips, phalaenopsis orchids, etc.

Vansterdam 02-11-2014 12:31 AM

I'll give my girl a tulip style rolled doobie :fullofwin:

lol... is it bad to think dying flowers are OK, because the flowers are really only needed on the day of.

Matlock 02-11-2014 04:16 AM

She said not to buy her roses this year, thinking they were super expensive.

So I'll let you know my secret. I've only been spending $20 at Costco for a dozen roses every year. :fullofwin:

GS8 02-11-2014 09:32 AM

If you just give your g/f a box of chocolates and a bunch of roses, are you REALLY that interesting?

I'd probably give my g/f a box of coconut water, a package of Quinoa and a pair of yoga pants. Turn her into a cliche.

Group buy. Dozen roses split 12 ways. Does it really have to be 12 roses? Most girls I find are happy to just get a single flower!

PeanutButter 02-11-2014 06:03 PM

Singing, I really wish I could do it well.

Vansterdam 02-12-2014 06:28 AM

Yup, Ecuador, flown in every 2nd day I think.

Either way though, short or long, 15$ is waaaaay to cheap. The person is probably just trying to sell them for the bare minimum so it's not a total loss on their end and the customer gets roses that last for a few days lol. Might as well splurge and get the good stuff, you only need to buy flowers maybe twice a year lol

long stem roses are hella expensive because the majority of them get broken along the way and they take twice as long to grow(3-4 months depending on the grower). Last year we got 400 120cm roses. maybe 50 made it here without getting bruised. Someone still bought the rest tho. The heads aren't bigger on a longer stem rose neither. Long stem roses are seen more as a coveted item for it's uniqueness. Kind of like a status symbol in the floral world.

Vansterdam 02-12-2014 11:40 AM

sooo whats a good website/store to order flowers and/or other gifts delivered in Vancouver?

Don't splurge too much...
Unless you're proposing or it's like some milestone anniversary, it seems excessive.

Instead of buying a top quality bouquet, spend some of that money in buying secondary gifts. She'll appreciate the quantity > quality more.

TBH, there's really no reason to buy flowers that will last a whole week.
It's all about the presentation, and the act of giving it.
