In Need of "Job" advice

Okay, so heres the deal. I'm only 15 years old and I am currently "working" at a sushi restaurant one day a week. It's a long story how I got there but the reason I put quotations is that I'm not really getting paid. The person who mainly taught me told me I was going to get paid. But, I recommended a friend there and my boss told him that I was NOT going to get paid and I was there only because my mom wanted me to be there.. :okay: Now I'm not even really learning anything and it's kinda boring, I'm starting to hate everybody there. I even got yelled at by the bosses's wife twice. What should I do? Find another restaurant? Find something that I actually get paid? Stay there?
EDIT: I was thinking, if I stay there, I could get more experience possibly and get hired at another restaurant.

Story of how I got the job TL;DR:
- Mom looking for a job
- Mom was like "Want to learn how to make sushi"
- I go in I learn derp
- I just basically work now, make the rolls etc(no pay at least i dont think so)
:fulloffuck:

:fuckthatshit:

Is this even a question? No shit go find another job. Go apply at safeway, they're hiring and they at least pay you for working there

edit: or mcdonalds. Go work at mcdonalds. Get the vip/gold card for 50% off then mack on bishes at lunch hour with your discounted mcgoodies.

Did they take your employment information? Did you sign any tax forms?

If not, walk. Is your time worth nothing?

Sky_High 01-27-2012 07:05 PM

Find another job, but make me some free sushi first :fullofwin:

Yeeaahh dunno why you'd even bother investing your time for free like that. Unless you wanna be a world class sushi chef one day or something you're wasting your time

kuruuze 01-27-2012 09:48 PM

You should stop working there ASAP. Not only are they not paying you but what if you get into a serious workplace injury, would they cover it? Chances are no, do yourself a huge favor leave and don't look back.

Not really racist! 01-27-2012 10:48 PM

Your avaliablity is probably shit or that store has already enough workers, just apply at multiple McDonalds. That`s usually the case when we turn people down.

FerrariEnzo 01-28-2012 04:07 PM

are the owener your parents friend?

if not
just make a bunch of crap rolls for customer, when they get return the walk off and tell the bitch wife to SUCK IT and throw your apron at her.. make sure to put shit in the pocket of the apron, so it has some weight to it..

dinosaur 01-28-2012 06:03 PM

dude....:fulloffuck:

If they are treating you it is because they do not respect you...they know you will just take it because you are working for FREE and they probably think you are an idiot!

Grow some balls and walk out! What are you doing?!

mr_chin 01-28-2012 07:34 PM

Guys, let's not assume he's not getting paid yet.

He said he doesn't think so.

First question you should ask yourself is, how was the hiring process? Did they just throw you an apron and got you to work?

If so, then yes you're not getting paid, at least not on a pay roll. If they went through forms and signing and stuff, then you can complain to the labour board after two weeks of labour and still haven't received income.

If you're 100% sure you're not getting paid, just go there whenever and have a free lunch and then leave whenever you want. If they don't do anything about it, then you profit. If they do, the worst case scenario is kick you out and never have you returned to their store again.

Phozy 01-28-2012 07:54 PM

Go in mcd's all smiles, saying you want to get out there and learn.

Give flexible hours, s what they look for, ability to work and learn.

Just quit your job, sure its experience, OR, you can go in to work for fun if you want the experience... whenever youre free

Mr.HappySilp 01-28-2012 09:33 PM

If you are fit and do work out go apply for labour sure the work sucks but is easy job and pays well. Not to mention you get to work out while getting paid!

soymilk 01-29-2012 12:00 AM

Honestly just look up some labour jobs such as dishwashing. If you can only work weekends, theres loads of restaurants that need dishwashers during that time. Decent pay, and free food, plus you might learn how to cook later on.

yeah I def agree with you on this one. There are numerous people I know out there that started off as dishwashers and progressed to line cooks and so on. Only thing is, if you're not comfortable with the kitchen environment, it might not be the thing for you.

ursher 01-29-2012 05:36 PM

eat as much sushi as you can while you work til the boss catches you and then walk out the restaurant as you finger them goodbye lol. smash some dishes on your way out as well. leave like a legend.

instantneedles 01-29-2012 08:08 PM

ok this is what I don't get.. If your mom got you into the job and set you up with it, without you having to go through an application/interview process, it must mean she knows the owner pretty damn well.. If your mom wanted to get you the job because she wanted you to get some non-paid work experience before you get a real paid job yourself, then it really is your mom's call whether or not you should stay. However, if your mom got you the job knowing it was a paid job and the owner backs off his deal and decides not to pay you your salary, I'm suspecting he's hiding it from your mom. If this is the case, I'd definetly tell your mom right away so that she'd know and get things straightened out. Sigh. Asian jobs are always so shady :okay:

PUPPY 01-29-2012 10:26 PM

during the summer i applied at Pearl Castle if any of u know what that is (popular richmond bubble tea place)
anyway after being hired i thought i was getting paid at least minimum wage until 1 week later they paid me $4.00 per hour . i quit on the spot and said some ugly words to the manager guy.
like instantneedles said, these asian places are hella shady and will take advantage of teenagers working their first job for pretty much free labour.
quit and go work at some fast food or supermarket for $10.00/hour
