His diction "may" be correct but it's such a stretch of a usage that it's wrong either way. He's either saying:

Ban immigrants if they hold "fanatical beliefs" by which he intended to mean religous, ideological or cultural extremists,

or

Ban immigrants with "fantasy" based beliefs such as religion; in which case you're banning people the choice to practice religion when they come here.

and to Noir, where does this come from? just curious.

I believe you were looking for "fanatic." The word most commonly used and appropriate for the certain situation at hand. People who not only believe but practice their ideology to extremism. Which is what is true with this case.

You know where it comes from?

Everyday people who defend their own beliefs, ideology, culture and religion from certain practitioners who take all the above too far. It's always been condemned as acts of "fanaticism" or "extremism".

Noir I'll clear it up a little for you.

fanatic=fanatical
fantastic=fantastical

Two completly different meanings two completly different words. Take the word fanatic out of the equation I did not write that word.

As a Caveat lector: I can understand where your coming from because the word fanatic is very often used to describe religion but I am giving religion less respect then that. You don't have to be fanatical about your religion for me to limit my interaction you.......I can't fathom the thought of rational humans believing in unicorns.

I feel that we have a very progressive society going on here (Canada) and all I ask from the immigration dept is that people are as mentally healthy as they are physically healthy prior to entry. Why is a medical exam necessary but not a psychological review. Times are changing example gay used to be a mental disorder now it's not right well I contend that irrational thoughts, beliefs & actions whatever brings them on are a problem that needs to be looked at.
