So you know how case law works, good. Review the case I posted and see what happens when witnesses actually step forward, unlike this case where it seems none testified.

That is interesting. I agree a lot of things could have factor in the BC judge decision: no witness presence or detailed testifies, no harm was actually done (versus the death of a man in the Ottawa case), the fact that the defendant originally lied to the police, etc.

On the BC case, did the guy appeal for the ticket? Or did he only appeal for the suspension?

I have found that lights that are timed for 50 km/h are also timed for 100 km/h.

Nope, not always. Many times the person going 65kmph is ahead of me just enough that he makes the light, but I have to stop.

I suspect this is the likely answer, and a shitty one. People shouldn't have to die to determine what's right and wrong.

While due process is important, there was no conspiracy theory against these kids. They were driving like idiots, people reported them, and now they'll get off. I wish the witnesses had chosen to testify.

I no longer "wear women's clothing and hang around in bars..." because "I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK" to quote Monty Python's Lumberjack song.
