Stolen update and important advice

So a few mths back If any of you recall I posted that my samsung note was stolen (n7000) well funny thing is i received an email asking where was it stolen from and if there was a reward.
well when i replied (this was on my berry) i ended up replying to my own email. I was like wtf and did a double take.
Well I remembered I had also purposely not changed the password to the gmail account that was on that specific phone. Thank god i didn't.

I right away logged into samsung dive and low and behold there was my n7000 active and apparently had it's sim changed twice (probably pay as you go)
I got the numbers.

I locked the phone using dive and also started tracking, what i was able to do was also take down call records (only two calls made) so now i have 4 numbers and a location ( abby) WTF.

Anyways while i'm hoping to get the phone back (gave the lockscreen my phone number) and the ability to only call my number.

what i wanted to say was if you have a samsung phone register it asap on SamsungDive cuz this shit is super useful (and hella fun) Poor bastard is prolly like wtf the phone is locked so he should contact me soon i hope HAHAHAHAHAHAH

anyways I will be forwarding the info the the officer in charge of the case.... might be I should give the number out for some RSBD crew action LOL

mk1freak 02-13-2012 01:34 PM

rofl did some googling on the numbers i found, found a craigslist ad with another number for contact and the phone for sale LOL :troll:

BossFrancis 02-13-2012 02:19 PM

rofl buddy with the phone just called.

telling me that he bought it off some guy on craigslist for 500:rukidding:

I told him ill giv him 200 as reward but that was it. He said he would rather smash it I was like go for it.

I feel for the guy if what he says is true but seriously it was lost long ago and I dont care if it stays lost. :troll:

i might coincide the meeting with an informal RS meet at a local timmies!

stolen outta van and reported stolen, never seen again so considered lost.

not "lost" as in i was walking in the mall and i "lost" the phone.

there's lost and then there's "lost". :concentrate:

now that even made my head hurt dam you turbo for making me think too hard! LOL

Psykopathik 02-14-2012 04:40 PM

haha! just too many people say yeah my phone was stolen when they left it on a table in a dark bar and went to dance and came back 6 hrs later expecting it to be there. good stuff. If he calls again lower your reward offer and let him know the phone is useless and blacklisted anyways.

mk1freak 02-14-2012 05:11 PM

oh yea he knows its bascially a brick once samsungdive locks it. funny thing is samsung dive is pretty good even if he unlocks it somehow by doing a hardreset rooted boot or w/e once it goes online with any sim the dive account (based from imei) automatically tracks changed sims and will let me lock it again (if it doesnt do it automatically based on last enabling)
if he returns it ill still give him 200 if he decides not well, i have the number he called from, all the numbers from changed sims and call logs PLUS i had it set to auto track so location info is also logged into my dive account.

All i can say is If you have a samsung phone sign up for a dive account. well worth it. even better if it results in getting a phone back!

best part is even if they wait 6mths or a year (mind you its been 3mths since phone was stolen) phone is still registered to dive and will be locked again.

twitchyzero 02-14-2012 10:34 PM

i wasted a bunch of time trying to set it up on my gs2 lte, not in account options.

my buddy who had also wasted a bunch of time trying to set it up said it doesnt work in Canada.

Gh0stRider 02-17-2012 07:59 PM

only thing i couldn't get working on my s2 was the call log.

iam_dan 02-18-2012 01:24 PM

CP.AR 02-19-2012 06:17 AM

Do note that these are simply tools you can use on the phone. None of them will actually for sure get your phone back. They can simply flash a custom rom and it's all gone.

avast mobile security seems to be the best anti-theft app out there.

apparently you can prevent them from flashing custom rom by disabling usb debugging running theft aware (avast) on a rooted phone whenever sim is changed or remotely via sms.

USB debugging may not be necessary depending on the phone. Just need to get into bootloader/fastboot/recovery mode before the phone starts up and flash away :)

Of course though. Typical theif wouldn't know any of this as evident above with the OP's device
