Try turning the prongs around and plugging it back in? My Prime did that too for some reason.

Buzzing noise occurs when plugged into standard power bar but phone is NOT connected.
Buzzing noise stops when I connect to phone.
I've also tried it on a power bar with surge protection with no change.

debating if i want the note or the htc one x...
battery life is somewhat important to me
i mostly use phone for email, browsing, games + videos

buy a note and carry a spare battery. you can get 2 for like $10 including a charger from eBay. spare battery is better than double sized one, as it doesn't make phone heavier 100% of the time.
the note has Super Amoled screen, higher resolution, Gorilla Glass. and its a Samsung
dont forget, the S Pen stylus, you can be the King of the game no one plays, Draw Something.
bigger screen = everything is better.
Fapping 1080P style.
