Windows 8 VS Mac OSX Mountain Lion --> Pick your weapon For PPL interested check this article out Microsoft News » Microsoft Windows 8 Vs Apple OS X Mountain Lion Personally I am siding with the Windows team just because of the Live Tile experience it just provides a different feel to a OS. Also Windows 8 has touch gestures so you can expect laptop/tablet hybrids while OSX only has the multi touch pad. What do you guys think? |
With Mountain Lion i'm excited about iMessage (cuz I have an iphone) and Airplay Mirroring, which will basically allow me to view my computer screen on a TV wirelessly that has my apple TV hooked up to it. other than that, it doesn't look like a major update again, which is probably why its gonna be priced at $29.99 like lion rather than $200+ like windows. |
It would've been nice if there was some sort of visual UI changes in Mountain Lion. Changes the dock, new icons, etc. Also, I would've called it Cougar instead to get attract an older/MILF demographic. |

Live tiles are awesome. Have windows 7.5 on my cell and it takes me about 3 seconds to check my 3 e-mail accounts. |

with 10.4 you probably have a non-intel processor which might mean that you are out of luck |
To be honest, I think i would of been fine with windows 98 or windows xp. All I could see as an end-user is the visual changes, or in other words, a different theme and setup. I like the fact that Apple has dumbed down or made things really easy for end-users to experience the updates they roll out. Maybe its just me, but i can appreciate paying an update for my apple machine, but rather pirate my windows needs. PS: I have both windows and mac |
I always see the Mac updates as patches and service packs you have to pay for. Annoys me. I used to be all about windows, then I switched to mac, now I'm back to windows. |
I am looking forward to the changes that Microsoft will bring to Windows 8. I am getting a Windows Phone in the near future (as soon as Kakaotalk is released on WP7). I like the tiles UI, it's a breath of fresh air for that I came from iOS to Android. I like how Windows 8 is ditching the x86 architecture support, and adopting ARM, so that it has it's own centralized app store, much like Apple has an App store for Mac OSX. Feature-wise, Windows 8 is a HUGE, and evolutionary upgrade over Windows 7. OSX, however, feels like a "Service Pack" update. The dock draws alot of similarities to Jolicloud OS. |
Honestly, Windows 8 is what should have came after Windows XP. There's no real reason why they couldn't do what they're doing now back then. I'm fine with paying for service pack updates that actually deliver new features, rather than a buggy full blown release. |
cant stand the tiles in Windows Phone and seeing it on Windows 8 its better but barf |

seeing some apps which allow customization of the tiles helps a little (app that lets you mask the tiles in an image) but its still ugh |
Honestly, when the HP Jornada came out with Windows Ce, i was like, this is the shit, this is the next wave - and nothing happened.......for a decade or more.... Quote:

As much as I think tablets are kind of stupid right now (although I still love mine for traveling) I absolutely look forward to having a Windows 8 tablet that actually lets me do STUFF but at the same time has a nice interface for just 'being a consumer'. That's when tablets are ready to be more than toys. |

please get rid of that tile layout. I prefer icons or something 3D. if it doesn't appeal to people right now, it will never do. |

iPhone's UI is 5 years outdated |
^^^ naturally since its just a copy of symbians tile layout :D |
Dude come the fuck on |
I saw a video on a MS developer talking about how he figured out a lot of people hold their tablets with two hands on the left and right of the tablet - and he found that it would make a lot of sense to have a lot of gestures/menus that can be operated with just their thumbs. Swiping is kinda cool, but is also quite awkward when you're holding a tablet. |
